Before we go any further: the question should not be Knowing then what you know now, Republicans: would you still have gone into Iraq in 2003? It should be Knowing then what you know now, Democrats: would you still have voted for the man who lost us the war in 2013? Because that’s a much more relevant question.  Oh, I understand why Democrats don’t want to answer it, because then they would have to explain why they’re still planning on doubling down on murder and fire, but that’s not exactly my problem.

The last Iraqi security forces fled the provincial capital of Ramadi on Sunday, as the city fell completely to the militants of the Islamic State, who ransacked the provincial military headquarters, seizing a large store of weapons, and carried out executions of people loyal to the government, according to security officials and tribal leaders.

No, my problem is that Barack Obama and the antiwar Left that he passively-aggressively pandered to have turned what was a damaged, yet healing situation in Iraq and turned it into a running, infected, and possibly gangrenous sore right now. I don’t expect them to do the honorable thing, in this case – there aren’t enough Trappist monasteries in the world to absorb that many people who so desperately need to contemplate their sins – but it might be nice if they at least apologized. And not a Sorry if I offended anybody. No, this would be a full-bore I’m sorry for being so bad at foreign policy that innocent people are right now being prepped to be burned alive in the Ramadi public square.  It wouldn’t be much, but it’d be more than we’ve gotten from that crowd up until now.
