In addition to being the best troll — and I say that as a compliment — that the White House has ever seen, President Donald Trump is also a master of making decisions or taking actions in a manner that almost dares congressional Democrats and their sock-puppet media to publicly oppose him.
This is a perfect example.
Trump announced on Wednesday that he will pardon Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar (TX-26), who had been facing federal bribery charges. Cuellar, a frequent critic of President Biden’s border policies, was indicted last year for allegedly taking $600,000 from Azerbaijan’s state-owned oil company and a Mexican bank in exchange for political favors.
As is his usual wont, Trump fired up Truth Social to announce the pardon, as only he can do:
For years, the Biden Administration weaponized the Justice System against their Political Opponents, and anyone who disagreed with them. One of the clearest examples of this was when Crooked Joe used the FBI and DOJ to “take out” a member of his own Party after Highly Respected Congressman Henry Cuellar bravely spoke out against Open Borders, and the Biden Border “Catastrophe.” Sleepy Joe went after the Congressman, and even the Congressman’s wonderful wife, Imelda, simply for speaking the TRUTH. It is unAmerican and, as I previously stated, the Radical Left Democrats are a complete and total threat to Democracy! They will attack, rob, lie, cheat, destroy, and decimate anyone who dares to oppose their Far Left Agenda, an Agenda that, if left unchecked, will obliterate our magnificent Country. Because of these facts, and others, I am hereby announcing my full and unconditional PARDON of beloved Texas Congressman Henry Cuellar, and Imelda. Henry, I don’t know you, but you can sleep well tonight — Your nightmare is finally over!
Not only brilliant, but also warranted.
So now the Democrats in Congress face another Trump-forced dilemma: Do they condemn the pardon of Cuellar — one of their own members — or do they sit this one out? I mean, God knows they won't applaud it.
Here's a bit of background from January 2024, which puts Cuellar's opposition to Biden's intentional importation of millions of illegal aliens into perspective:
Texas Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar begged President Biden Saturday to end the “catch and release” cycle drawing millions of illegal immigrants into the United States — echoing the complaints of his Republican House colleagues.
“You got to have repercussions at the border,” the 10-term congressman from the district that includes Laredo, Tex., told Fox News.
“The asylum law, the criteria for letting people in, can be adjusted,” Cuellar said — adding that existing law can be used to deport those who flout the entry rules.
“If you have in one-year millions of individuals that are encountered, and then you let hundreds and hundreds of thousands of them in, that becomes the pull factor,” Cuellar said. “That catch and release … is the pull factor.”
You likely recall Biden's ongoing claim (bald-faced lie) that he needed congressional legislation to stop the illegal alien onslaught, a narrative which the left-wing media eagerly parroted.
You also "might" recall that the Trump administration blew that claim out of the water during the first few months of his second term, stopping the inflow of illegals the good old-fashioned way: not only by sealing the border with force, but also by tracking down illegals already in-country, which, yes, is exactly what a majority of Americans voted for.
