I don't know if the 2024 presidential campaign season has given veteran Democrat strategist James Carville ulcers or not, but it does appear that the "Ragin' Cajun" jumps from one thing to fret about to another. And with good cause.
After spending weeks warning Democrats that cognitively vacant Joe Biden had to go, Carville is now warning his party not to get too cocky about its new presumptive presidential nominee, Kamala Harris.
I have to be the skunk at the garden party. This is too triumphalist, OK? Everybody’s giddy. I look at the coverage and it’s great. If I had to write a play about what I think, it’d be entitled, ‘The Icepick Cometh,’ OK? Get ready, they’re coming. All right? And it’s good. Everybody should feel good and liberated and everything else. But if we don’t win the election, we haven’t done anything.
Breaking: For the first ever, I agree with everything Carville just said.
How could you not? Not just the giddy coronation of Harris, but also the panicky attempt to rewrite — or even erase — her history is crazy. Both the Democrat Party and its sock-puppet media are trying to recast the far-left San Franciscan as Mother Teresa, for God's sake.
"This kind of giddy elation is not going to be very helpful much longer," warned Carville, "’cause that’s not what we’re going to be faced with."
Again, correct. Donald Trump and the Republican Party have a cornucopia of damning background on Harris, from her time as attorney general of California to her failed 2020 presidential campaign to her comments as vice president — and her do-nothing three-and-half years in the office.

Carville used a boxing analogy of a medical assistant who aids a boxer between rounds in a fight to describe what Harris needs instead of the Democrat euphoria now surrounding her.
I think the vice president, to put it in athletic terms, needs a really good cut man on the corner because she’s getting ready to get cut.
It’s still the same country [with Biden out of the race]. All right? It might be a different mood, and all I’m saying is good. Bang your helmets against the locker, it’s fine. But still, when you go out there, you’re facing Alabama.
Just get ready because these Republicans, you’re right, they got caught off guard, but they’re going to get their sea legs and we’re having to get a campaign, a whole campaign started.
All I’m doing is saying watch out people, don’t get too far out there. If we don’t win this, all this good feeling is going to evaporate and be all for naught and that’s what I kinda think my role is right now.
Given that Carville's blood runs deep Democrat blue, he "forgot" to mention that "these Democrats" will continue to paint Donald Trump as the Devil's spawn, continue comparing him to Adolf Hitler, and continue the absurd nonsense about the former president and "MAGA Republicans" being an "existential threat" to America.
Carville issued a similar warning about the Democrats' love affair with Harris on former CNN host Don Lemon's podcast.
Right now, she’s doing well, very well. This is the best day that she’s going to have for the rest of the campaign — they’re coming. They were hit real bad, they were confused, but they’re getting un-confused now and Democrats have got to get ready.
I don't know anything about Trump and Republicans being "hit real bad" or "confused," but I do know that they have a plethora of legit material with which to blast Harris — and I also know there's nothing the Democrat Party can do about it, despite their attempts to rewrite her history or delete it.
