WATCH: ABC's Karl Stops Newsom in His Tracks As He Makes Ridiculous Claims About Biden's 'Record'

Given that I live in the relative stability of the Midwest, I haven't paid all that much attention to California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom. Other than an occasional story here and there, not only have I paid virtually no attention to the guy, but I also don't care what he says or does, one way or the other.

On Sunday morning, I decided to give Newsom a rare look-see. My bottom-line conclusion: Newsom is long on hair gel and short on incisiveness. Not quite Kamala Harris, but I'm just sayin'.

During an appearance on ABC News' "This Week," host Jonathan Karl surprisingly stopped Newsom in his tracks, several times, as the California governor hemmed and hawed, talked in circles without saying anything, and desperately tried to rewrite the disastrous history of Joe Biden's presidency

At one point, Newsom absurdly claimed that Biden had “the best three-year record of any modern American presidency,” as he boasted about the nonexistent "extraordinary successes of the last three years."

It’s not even a complicated campaign. We have the receipts. We have the best three-year record of any modern American presidency, period, full stop. And you look at the issue, issue by issue, they poll overwhelmingly, the American people support what Biden has done.

Wait— the American people support what Biden has done? Um, Gavin? Karl was quick to call Newsom out on the preposterously incorrect claim:

Except for the big thing, approval. Biden’s approval is historically low. Why is that?

Newsom promptly twisted himself into a silly incoherent pretzel:

The economic strategy, as this president’s put together, were all things Republicans dreamt of, but never delivered. He’s delivered.

Delivered? On what? Other than out-of-control gas prices, ever-increasing prices at the grocery store, and an overall economy that a majority of Americans think sucks?

Next up, Newsom got even more ridiculous, as Karl asked him about the Biden Border Crisis, including what should happen to the millions of illegal aliens that have surged into the U.S. — virtually from day one of Biden's presidency. Take it away, Gavin (emphasis, mine).

Well, I think you have to deal with the cards that are dealt. You’ve got to deal with the reality on the ground. And you have to have a comprehensive conversation around this, across the spectrum, the push and the pull.

And that’s around the fundamental issue, immigration reform. It’s not just border security. The president put out a comprehensive strategy, a pathway to citizenship along with lines of their former hero, Ronald Reagan, to address the reality on the ground.

Wrong, Gavin. The present, fundamental issue is stopping in their tracks the ever-growing number of illegal aliens walking into this country daily.

Newsom then had the cojones to blame congressional Republicans — and by extension, former President Donald Trump — for Biden's intentional illegal alien invasion.

That’s what the president of the United States has put up in front of Congress. And they refuse to act. They’re just promoting an agenda to disrupt and find a crowbar to put in the spokes of the wheels of the Biden administration to disrupt any progress on this because they don’t want progress, period.

As I said, earlier, it takes cojones.

Generalization, obfuscation, disingenuousness, flat-out lies — and copious amounts of hair gel.

The Bottom Line

I often read, from one keyboard jockey or another: "They think you're stupid," in reference to Democrat politicians. Untrue. On the contrary, they know we're not stupid. Moreover, they don't give a damn.

Why not? Because we're not their target audience.

What they do know — or at least hope — is that a majority of low-information, rank-and-file Democrat voters believe everything they say, without question, and continue to pull the "D" lever, year in and year out.
