How many times have we said it? Evil doesn’t follow laws.

Evil people intent on doing evil things will likely do evil things, by any means necessary or available. In the case of violent crime-riddled New York City, that evil now includes a “whopping surge” in stabbing deaths.

Move over, “assault rifles,” a new “weapon of war” has hit the bloody streets of NYC: assault knives. 

Fatal stabbings are on the rise in the Big Apple, as part of a citywide surge in major crime, according to the latest figures obtained by The New York Post. NYPD data released on Monday showed a 36 percent surge in major crime this year. Fatal stabbings, however, have jumped a whopping 43 percent through August 7 in comparison to the same period in 2021, according to the data.

An unidentified New York cop told The Post what should be obvious to all rational people:

People aren’t afraid to carry guns, so obviously they are not worried [about carrying] knives. Plus it is a lot easier to get a hold of a knife.

A Staten Island cop added another bit of obvious logic:

If you get caught carrying a knife – even a machete – you just get a DAT [desk appearance ticket]. It is a misdemeanor. No value for human life.

Another demoralized cop added:

They’re letting bad guys go home. There’s zero consequences for their actions.

Embattled, self-aggrandizing NYC Mayor Eric Adams and former clueless Mayor Bill de Blasio were unavailable for comment.

Needless to say, New York City is not the Lone Ranger in the insanity of surging violent crime. From the bloody streets of Chicago’s Southside to Baltimore, St. Louis, Cleveland, Detroit, and on, violent crime and total disregard for the value of human life have rendered parts of once-great cities veritable war zones.

And in every case? Democrat city governments, most of them corrupt, and left-wing nutjobs like Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón, who remains hellbent on releasing from incarceration as many murderers and other violent criminals as he can get away with — victims be damned — are principally to blame. What the hell do these left-wing extremists think is going to happen as a result of their purposeful failure to protect the citizens of their respective cities? The dirty little secret? They know.

Incidentally, as noted by The Post, grand larceny in NYC is up 48.3 percent, auto theft is up 42 percent, robbery jumped 39.8 percent, rapes increased 10%, and felonious assaults are up by 19.5 percent.

Joseph Giacalone, a retired NYPD sergeant and adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan, summed it up — bottom line.

We’ve probably lost two decades-worth of crime reductions, and that’s the real shame. All those years of hard work by the Police Department is all gone in one year.

Meanwhile, the Democrat song remains the same.

The bottom line.

One of the most obscene, inexcusable aspects of out-of-control murder and other violent crimes in America’s once-proud cities remains the relative lack of response by Democrat lawmakers and city officials to crimes that don’t fit their narrative. Weekend after weekend, the streets of Chicago’s Southside run red with blood. Where’s Joe Biden? Kamala Harris? Nancy Pelosi?

Where is Barack Obama, who lived and worked on the Southside? The same Barack Obama who exploited the daylights out of every mass shooting he could find?

Cue the crickets.

But a “mass shooting,” in which a homicidal madman uses an AR-15-style rifle? All hell break loses. Democrat after Democrat rushes to exploit every one of those tragedies, often using young children as props while doing so. Why? All together now:

Because the gun-grabbing left ridiculously exploits a “scary-looking” rifle that is hardly a “weapon of war,” solely for the purpose of further chipping away at the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners.

Can “assault knives” and “knife-grabbers” be far behind? Don’t count on it.
