The Constant Taxpayer and Charity Black Hole: Billions Raised, Nothing Fixed

Year after year, Americans pay their taxes, with the idea of getting better roads, bridges, and services when needed. But time and time again, politicians fail to deliver for the American people. Not to mention "charity" organizations like Black Lives Matter, which collected $90 million in 2020 during the riots that took place in big cities across the nation.

Black Lives Matter raised money to improve Black communities, supposedly. Yet, that has not happened as cities like Chicago are still ravaged by crime every week. However, what did happen was that BLM spent a good chunk of what they raised on real estate for themselves and gave their consultants money, per IRS filings.

The most money BLM ever received was in 2020. Their revenue dropped from about $80 million in 2021 to under $7 million in 2024. Since 2022, they have had more expenses than revenue coming in because people caught on to their scam, especially after BLM's co-founder Patrisse Cullors bought a mansion with the people's donations, instead of actually helping to improve the communities they promised to help.

Taxpayers get the brunt of it, too, as they pay taxes every year, hear all these promises made by politicians that the roads will be fixed, at a minimum, and don't even see that happen. In California, Los Angeles County, to be exact, several potholes have taken vehicles out on the 210 freeway. Yet nothing has been done about it, as the rain came down hard over the past couple of months, those potholes only got worse, and others were created too. Yet the politicians are too busy "fighting Trump" to help their constituents. But if someone were to park in a spot for more than a minute of the allotted time, they would get ticketed immediately. The priorities for these Democrat politicians are asinine, and we see this play out every single day.

On one of his recent podcasts, Adam Carolla made a good analogy of how money keeps being given to organizations like BLM, taxpayers continue paying their taxes, yet nothing seems to be improving.

Black Lives Matter. Anything changed in the Black community? Homeless spending in Los Angeles. Anything change in the homeless community? ... If someone said they just dumped a million dollars into their home renovating it, and you show up, and it looks exactly the same, or maybe a little bit worse, something is up.

How is it that you raise millions and millions and millions for this purpose, and nothing’s changing comes out the other end? ‘Hey, we had a big concert and all the money was gonna go to the victims of the Palisades fire,’ nobody gets a nickel. How come nothing happened?”

There’s not one pothole filled. There’s nothing put up. There’s no new community center that got built. Does anyone ever get tired of nothing coming out the other side?

He is correct. The amount of money that California Democrats spent on homelessness, for the problem that does not just fail to get better but actively gets worse, is outrageous, and taxpayers should be fed up with the incompetence of politicians.

Time and time again, politicians promise the world to voters, and underdeliver each and every single time. Not once have I seen taxpayer money being put to good use in Los Angeles County. For starters, the Los Angeles Unified School District has more than enough funds to improve the education system and help students learn. But they're too busy spending our taxpayer money on things like this:

It will take time to fix the corruption — and I think there is a lot of it in LA County — but it starts with electing competent people to take over these roles. Career politicians have sunk this city, county, and state for over 16 years now.

Enough is enough of not just organizations like BLM that look at their donors as a way to enrich organizer leaders, but also of career politicians who consistently tax us, while severely underdelivering on their promises.

The good news is that more people are paying attention, they are getting fed up, and voting differently.
