The newly elected mayor of New York City, Democrat Socialist Zohran Mamdani, dodged a question about the political future of Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) following Mamdani's victory on Tuesday, making it clear who is now running the Democrat Party.
Speaking to Politico, the socialist, i.e., communist, took on a host of topics. One question was about how he planned to lead the divided city, where nearly 50 percent of the population voted for someone other than him.

The mayor-elect gave a typical politician's response, promising to be a leader for all the people of NYC, including those who didn't vote for him and those who didn't even go out and vote.
Another question centered around how soon Mamdani can realistically expect changes to occur in the city. To say his response was a whole lot of nothing is putting it mildly.
I am going to work towards delivering those results from the very first day in my administration. There will be different timelines for different issues, but all of them are ones that we have to deliver throughout the time that I am the mayor of the city.
Governor Hochul has said, for example, that child care is the issue of 2026, and I know that the rent guidelines board makes the determination on the increase or lack thereof on rents on an annual basis. These are examples of places where we will start in spelling out a timeline to actually deliver on the needs of working class New Yorkers.
Wow! What even does that mean, "in spelling out a timeline to actually deliver"? Huh?

But the most interesting part of the interview might just have been during a lightning round when the reporter asked him, "Should Chuck Schumer face a challenge in 2028?"
Mamdani did not respond, and instead, a spokesperson basically said they had run out of time.
I'm sorry, Joe, we gotta go.
Interestingly, the reporter said he had one more question, and Mamdani managed to answer him.
Reporter: One lightning round!
Mamdani: I'm focused on this transition, my brother, but thank you.
I guess he did, in fact, have more time to speak than his spokesperson had claimed.
As my RedState colleague Nick Arama reported, it is incredibly ironic that the man who spent months telling New Yorkers he would make the rich pay and, in turn, provide everything for "free," ended up turning to his "working people" supporters and asking for money for his transition team.
Mamdani's dodge on Schumer's political future comes after the New York senator refused to endorse the Democrat Socialist even in the waning hours of his mayoral campaign. The new radical guard of the Democrat Party is led by Mamdani and the likes of Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14), both of whom no doubt are feeling emboldened after Tuesday night's victory. Schumer has to be worried that his days as a senator are numbered.
Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
