The Incredibly Ironic Request Mamdani Has of His 'Working People' Supporters

One of the reasons Zohran Mamdani won was that he sold people this story of free buses and freezing rents. He was trying to sell New Yorkers on the idea that he would help solve the "affordability" problem by taxing the rich and making it better for New Yorkers.

Now, I don't think he'll even get half the things he promised. If he achieved free buses, they would quickly become out-of-control homeless shelters that would not be safe to use. And freezing rents does the exact opposite of providing affordable housing. Then landlords wouldn't be able to afford to maintain the buildings, and they would sink into disrepair, defeating the purpose of providing affordable and livable housing.

But beyond the question of whether Mamdani could even do these things and the inherent problems, Mamdani sold people on the idea that he could give them a wonderful future of free stuff by taxing the rich. So it was incredibly ironic that the day after he won, he was already asking those same "working people" to donate money for his transition team, and pulling out that fake smile again.

He said he'd told people to stop donating a few months ago. But now, he was asking the "working people" to donate again, because, surprise, his transition team would cost money. He said that "it would require staff, it will require research, it will require infrastructure.

"Those are things we will have to provide. I'm excited for the fact that it will be funded by the very people who brought us to this point, the working people who have been left behind by the politics of this city."

Here's a more expanded version, with extra car salesman smiles. He's going to have a bunch of people, and he needs money.

Pay up, guys! You thought you were going to get something for free? Well, nothing's free, and they want money from you, if you're foolish enough to contribute. But hey, you wouldn't be left behind, they'll have their hands out to you...for your money. They need your money to do research...on how to give you free stuff?

What about the NGOs that supported Mamdani's run? Why isn't he asking them, or the Soros family, rather than asking the "working people" for the money?

As we reported, it was more the college-educated voters who went for Mamdani. The non-college-educated knew better.

Unfortunately, for New Yorkers, they are going to find out in short order that nothing is free, and they're going to pay a heavy price for the bad choice they made on Tuesday.

Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
