Eye Roll: Disney’s Bob Iger and Hollywood Stars Attack Trump With Most Ridiculous Move Yet

Disney's CEO Bob Iger made possibly the most ridiculous move yet after reportedly signing on board with changing the name of the professional women's soccer team he and his wife Willow Bay co-own to take a swipe at President Donald Trump and his immigration policies.

Once named Angel City, the National Women's Soccer League team has been rebranded following the anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles to "Immigrant City FC" after the team's ownership group floated the idea on June 7, the day after the L.A. riots started, Deadline reported.

And when you look at the members of the group, like leftist Hollywood stars such as Eva Longoria, Uzo Aduba, America Ferrera, Jennifer Garner, and Jessica Chastain, it's no surprise the name change was overwhelmingly approved. The outlet noted that both Iger and his wife are said to have signed off on the move and were consulted through every step of the efforts.

It added:

To be clear, Iger is not involved in the day-to-day management of ACFC. To that, the "Immigrant City" call was a multi-level decision within the organization and not Iger's.

In a statement posted on the team's Instagram, a message from the team read:

We are heartbroken by the fear and uncertainty many in our Los Angeles community are feeling right now.

At Angel City, we believe in the power of belonging. We know that our city is stronger because of its diversity and the people and families who shape it, love it, and call it home.

The following post made it clear about the name change.

It read:

We're proud to introduce Immigrant City FC. Created to honor the people who made this city and this club what it is.

The team then printed up 10,000 T-shirts for its next home game on June 14 with the new name. The front of the shirt read, "Immigrant City F.C.," and the message on the back read, "Los Angeles is for Everyone," Deadline noted. It was in both English and Spanish.

It included a message about how net proceeds from the shirt sales would go to a nonprofit law firm that represents illegal immigrants.

"All net proceeds are being donated to Camino Immigration Services, ensuring that the campaign has a direct, positive impact on the community," an ACFC spokesperson said.

The name change comes a year after Iger and his wife dropped $100 million to become controlling owners of the National Women's Soccer League team, the outlet noted.

Following news of the rebranding, conservative commentators like OutKick's Clay Travis blasted it as completely woke.

"Disney CEO Bob Iger's women's soccer team, Angel City," has rebranded itself as "Immigrant City FC" to attack Donald Trump's ICE raids," Travis posted on X. "Not content with destroying Disney's brand with woke nonsense, Iger has moved on to his sports team. "

First, Iger goes woke, completely disregarding the values families came to know and love about Disney TV shows and movies, pushing animated films with LGBTQ+ issues and embracing leftist wacky issues. And now he's going to alienate even more people with this dumb move to label L.A. "Immigrant City." Just Stop.
