There have been several cases of late where defendants are illegal aliens charged with serious felonies. Too many. The murder of Laken Riley sparked national outrage when we learned that the suspect was admitted into the country via Joe Biden's lax/nonexistent immigration policies.

Laken Riley was murdered and the suspect, Jose Ibarra, was indicted. Becca Lower reported

The grand jury indicted Jose Ibarra, a 26-year-old Venezuela national, who had entered the country illegally in September 2022 in El Paso, Texas. He faces charges of malice murder and felony murder in connection with Riley’s death.

Riley was found deceased on Augusta University’s campus on Feb 22 after she did not return home after jogging. It is believed that Ibarra killed her by “inflicting blunt force trauma to her head and by asphyxiating her.” He is alleged to have struck her “multiple times” using a rock.

Riley’s death prompted a national outcry against the Biden administration’s ineffective immigration policies that allow folks like Ibarra to enter the country in violation of the law.

During Joe Biden's State of the Union address, he was unable to pronounce Laken's name correctly. It was an embarrassing and heartbreaking gaffe.

Later in March 2024, a Grand Rapids resident was murdered. The suspect is an illegal alien.

It was first reported by The Midwesterner. The victim was 25-year-old Ruby Garcia, and the suspect was Brandon Ortiz-Vite.

Ortiz-Vite faces one count each of homicide/open murder, carjacking, felony firearm, illegally carrying a concealed weapon, operating while intoxicated, and driving on a suspended or revoked license, records show.

A mother of five, Rachel Morin, was brutally raped and murdered in 2023 — again the suspect is an individual who crossed the southern border.

We were further horrified by the story of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray. She was lured to her death — brutalized, raped, and then murdered by what appears to be two men, again, in this country illegally.

Our Bob Hoge pointedly reported that "The psychopaths dumped her body in a bayou:"

Police in Houston have arrested two migrants from Venezuela for the murder of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray, who was lured away from home, then strangled and dumped in a bayou.

One of the suspects crossed the border illegally less than a month before the shocking murder, and was released into the US after claiming he feared for his life if he was sent back to his home country, sources told The Post.

Johan Jose Rangel Martinez, 21, and Franklin Jose Pena Ramos, 26, were charged Thursday with capital murder.

In what I can only describe as the most craven and feckless claim I have ever heard an official commit in a public statement, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo claimed that Jocelyn's brutal rape and agonizing death is Trump's fault. Not Biden's three-and-a-half years of an open border — but Trump.

This statement from this "judge" (in Texas, the equivalent of a mayor or county executive) was incomprehensible nonsense.

Harris County Texas: If the citizens of the country haven't started a recall today or aren't making every effort to vote her out, you are collectively as craven as this excuse for a judge.

Editor's Note: This article was edited post-publication to reflect that Hidalgo's position is as an executive rather than a jurist. We apologize for the error.
