On Monday morning a "Liberated Zone" encampment was set up at New York University's Gould Plaza by pro-Hamas agitators, in "solidarity" with their comrades at Columbia University. The protest from the encampment became disorderly, and protesters have now breached the university's barricades and are refusing to leave.

Administrators initially allowed the protest to continue and added the "safety requirement" that no additional people enter the zone. Not surprisingly, the protesters didn't comply with that requirement and breached the barricades around NYU buildings by early afternoon.
"With the breach of the barricades early this afternoon, that requirement was violated, and we witnessed disorderly, disruptive, and antagonizing behavior that has interfered with the safety and security of our community.

"We cannot tolerate people getting hurt...
By 3:20 PM Eastern the head of NYU campus safety announced to the people on the plaza that they had to leave by 4 PM or face consequences.
"You will need to clear the plaza by 4:00 pm. If you leave now, no one will face any consequences for today’s actions—no discipline, no police."

At press time, the protesters have not left and there's no police force making them leave.
These universities should know by now that coddling protesters and trying to make agreements with them isn't ever an effective move.
