Jobs Americans Won't Do: Cameroon Illegal Recruited, Almost Graduated the New Orleans Police Academy

Despite the mess in Minneapolis sucking up all the oxygen, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is doing excellent work in other cities, without the riots, unrest, and insurrections posing as fake protests. ICE is not just rooting out the criminal illegals, but uncovering illegal aliens who are simply hiding in plain sight. Their fraud is hardly victimless, relying on false or stolen paperwork and a calculated ability to charm DEI gatekeepers into positions many qualified Americans could have filled. The Left loves to wax eloquent about illegal immigrants doing the jobs Americans won't do, but these illegals are not gardeners and fry cooks. They are occupying well-paid, high-level positions of public trust, which should involve a high degree of rigor in vetting in order to ensure the people filling these positions are not just legal citizens, but also the best of the best. Sadly, that has not been the case, and as RedState has reported, it is more widespread than any of us realizes.

As my colleague Rusty Weiss updated in October, former Des Moines, Iowa, school superintendent and registered Democrat voter Ian Andre Roberts pled guilty to the charges against him of false statements and illegal gun possession. Roberts was arrested in late September with a laundry list of charges, which included overstaying a student visa. A Guyanese native who was their face in the 2000 Summer Olympic Games, Roberts lived in the United States and traveled in and out of our country for over 20 years, claimed post-graduate degrees, held visible positions in education and administration in various cities, and lived the high life as the face of innovative education while he headed up the Des Moines school district. Roberts held that position for over a year before he was caught.

As Weiss wrote:

This guy was gaming the system to secure a full-time superintendent position, earning a $270,000 annual salary. An illegal alien profiting off skirting the law represents everything seedy about the failed immigration system in this country.

Also last October, Hanover Park, Illinois, police officer Radule Bojovic was arrested by ICE. Bojovic had entered the U.S. on a tourist visa, which expired in March 2015, and never bothered to leave. Bojovic was released from federal custody in November on a $2,500 bond and is on unpaid administrative leave from the Hanover Park Police Department while his immigration case plays out.

Grand Jury Indicts 'Iowa Educator' Ian Roberts for False Employment Records, Illegal Firearms Possession

This time around, it's the New Orleans Police Department that has failed to do its due diligence. While this arrest of an illegal alien recruited by their police department occurred last Wednesday, his name was just released on Tuesday, as Senior Correspondent Bill Melugin of Fox News reports.

NEW: ICE confirms to @foxnews that they’ve arrested a New Orleans Police Department recruit who they say is an illegal alien from Cameroon with an active deportation order & no work authorization, & they say he was illegally given a gun by New Orleans PD.

ICE says 46-year-old Larry Temah was one week away from graduating the New Orleans PD academy when they arrested him. They say Temah first entered the US legally in 2015 on a visitor’s visa and was granted conditional residency after marrying a US citizen in 2016. However, in 2022, his application for permanent residency was denied to due to fraud.

ICE says Temah was ordered to appear in immigration court three times, but never did, disregarding US laws, which resulted in an immigration judge ordering him deported in absentia, resulting in his active deportation order.

DHS statement to FOX: “This illegal alien from Cameroon, Larry Temah, is not only breaking the law with every step he takes in this country illegally, but the New Orleans Police Department hired him and issued him a firearm - what kind of law enforcement department gives criminal illegal aliens guns and badges? It’s a FELONY for illegal aliens to even possess a firearm. Sanctuary cities like New Orleans ignore ICE detainers and are protecting illegal aliens at the expense of American citizens."

When this news first broke last week, Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick acted as though it was another day ending in "y." Simply the equivalent of, "Oops! Our bad, nothing to see here, folks."

"We learned about it this morning," Kirkpatrick said Wednesday. "There was no struggle involved. The recruit was taken into custody without any incident whatsoever."

Kirkpatrick declined to identify the recruit, referring questions on his identity to ICE. Fox News Digital has reached out to ICE for additional details.

She said the department had no indication during the hiring process that the individual was not legally in the U.S.

"There was nothing in the [personnel] packet that would have given us reason to believe that this person did not have legal status," she said. "There is some question that may have developed later."

WATCH:

According to Kirkpatrick, the recruit applied to join the department in June 2025, had a valid driver’s license and Social Security number, and had passed the federal E-Verify system.

She said ICE later informed the department that an immigration judge had signed a removal order for the recruit on Dec. 5, 2025, following his application to the police force.

"The order of removal occurred after we had already hired him," she said.

Kirkpatrick said the recruit had lived in the United States for about 10 years and had previously lived in Georgia.

Every police department is different, but unless you had previous law enforcement experience, why would you hire a 46-year-old recruit? Are there not enough young men and women who could make the cut? The fact that Temah had a valid driver's license, Social Security number, and passed E-Verify is simply a lame excuse. That is top-layer vetting done for your secretaries and file clerks. One would expect law enforcement recruits to undergo deeper vetting. However, Kirkpatrick takes absolutely no accountability for this clear failure of her department in turning a blind eye to any red flags. What kind of police force is she running in New Orleans? Well, Kirkpatrick is the same woman whom the New Orleans FBI field office uses to teach their recruits courses on bias and diversitySince Kirkpatrick's implicit bias was skewed in the other direction and she teaches others to do the same, it is no wonder this check-the-boxes recruit almost made it as a police officer in New Orleans.

New Year, New Vigilance: National Guard Returns to Streets of New Orleans After Last Year's Attack

Terrible. Just more than a year after the horrific 2024 New Year's Eve attack, Louisiana's elected officials need to take a deeper look at the loopholes in this city that allow illegal, unvetted, and potentially dangerous individuals to take precedence over American citizens.

Editor’s Note: Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left's lies, new legislation wasn't needed to secure our border, just a new president.
