ICE Arrests Colombian Illegal Teen Who Caused a Woman's Vehicular Death, but He Wasn't Only One Arrested

Two weeks ago, the Arapahoe District Attorney's Office which covers Aurora, Colorado, rendered a stunning decision. In July 2024, a 15-year-old Colombian teenager who was 1) an illegal immigrant; 2) did not have a driver's license; and 3) had taken his mother's Jeep on a joy ride with friends and was driving 90 miles-an-hour in a 45-mile-per-hour zone, struck the car of 24-year-old Kaitlyn Weaver, and ended her life. The teenager was charged with vehicular homicide, and the district attorney's office promised there would be no plea deal and that they would prosecute the Colombian illegal to the full extent of the law.

When the top D.A. position changed hands two months later, so did those terms. A plea deal was given, and it is a rank insult to the life of Kaitlyn Weaver, to her parents John and Michelle, and the Weaver family:

Under the new District Attorney Amy Padden, Weaver says the teen was offered two years' probation if he pleaded guilty.

The Colombian illegal did plead guilty in order to get the reduced sentence. Along with the probation, he was required to do 100 hours of community service, and urged to "attend school and not break any laws."

Are you kidding me?! Then there was this further judicial directive which is literally spitting in the Weavers' faces:

If he violates the terms of his probation, he will go back to court, but under the plea deal, his probation will not automatically be revoked.

Well that's a relief. John Weaver was rightly angry over this slap on the wrist when he was told that justice would be done:

"Why the change? If he had taken a firearm and recklessly just shot it and killed someone, this would be a different case. They would be pushing it completely differently," Weaver said. "There's no deterrence."

There's also no financial liability, he says, despite his daughter's medical bills, which came to nearly $1 million.

The Jeep was uninsured, and the juvenile's mom says he took it without permission, so she isn't responsible either.

Weaver says the system is broken: "Immigration and the criminal justice system and all these things landed together one day in Aurora and now I sit here today without a daughter."

But a change of presidential administration has brought some light at the end of this grim tunnel.

Fox News senior correspondent Bill Melugin has confirmed that this Colombian criminal, as well as his entire family, have been arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and are being expedited for immediate deportation. Under President Donald Trump's new immigration policies, Kaitlyn Weaver's family is receiving the justice they deserve:

BREAKING: ICE confirms to @FoxNews they have arrested the teenage Colombian illegal alien who was given no jail time & probation after he hit & killed Kaitlyn Weaver in Aurora, CO while driving 90mph & unlicensed. ICE also arrested the teen’s entire family, who are also illegal aliens & will seek to deport all of them.

@ERODenver is blasting the Arapahoe County DA’s office for the teen’s weak sentence, saying in part: “For the @DA18th justice is no jail time and probation for this criminal alien who killed a young woman while driving more than 90mph. For ICE, justice is arrest and removal.”

Full ICE statement to FOX

“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested a 16-year-old criminal alien from Colombia May 20 in Aurora, Colorado. The minor, who was convicted of reckless driving resulting in death was arrested along with his family who are also illegal aliens.

The minor was convicted in Colorado’s 18th Judicial district and was sentence to probation and community service. As part of its routine operations, ICE arrests aliens who commit crimes and other individuals who have violated our nation’s immigration laws. All aliens in violation of U.S. immigration law may be subject to arrest, detention and, if found removable by final order, removal from the United States, regardless of nationality.”

In a prior case involving an illegal alien criminal who ICE immediately swooped up so he could do no further harm, Arapahoe County D.A. Amy Padden had this to say:

“As an elected District Attorney, I’m committed to holding violent offenders accountable, regardless of their immigration status,” District Attorney Amy Padden said. “When a federal agency’s actions prevent us from performing the job I was elected to do by transporting a defendant with pending criminal charges outside of my jurisdiction and failing to produce him for a scheduled court hearing, this is a major injustice to this community and to the victims impacted by these cases.”

Padden needs to go back to her law books and find out what justice actually means.

As for this criminal Colombian family: Fool Around. Find Out.

Good riddance.
