Trump Is Tired of D.C.’s ‘BACK2GOOD’ Attitude and Standards

President Trump is a man who has always cared about the details. He is a master showman; even his most ardent haters would have to admit that. If it’s not done with excellence, in his mind, it shouldn’t be done at all. To the contrary, that is not how the District of Columbia has been run under Mayor Muriel Bowser. In fact, the standard for D.C. under Bowser is so low that the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority once funded and pushed a public relations campaign called “BACK2GOOD” to promote their efforts to improve the metro.

Allow me to further explain this. The Metro in D.C. was doing so poorly across every category that the city was pushing to simply get back to average service—not an excellent service, that was not the goal, an average service. What kind of leader sets that standard? Imagine a sales team for a Fortune 500 company working every day to be average. It’s just not real life. Unless you’re an elected official in the District. The city funded and promoted the campaign with ads across Metro and bus services, even funding a commercial highlighting the effort.

Compare this to their effort surrounding crime, and things really start to make sense. I lived in D.C. for over eight years—I have crime stories. I don’t know anyone (I’m not being hyperbolic), I mean anyone, who has lived in the city for an extended period of time who doesn’t have a personal crime story. Personal theft. Cars stolen. Cars destroyed. Tires stolen. Bullets flying. The stories run the gamut.

How this same leadership is pushing back on President Trump for his efforts to make D.C. a safer place to live is beyond me. The National Guard presence is clearly sending the correct message. In just one week, reports are circulating discussing how residents already feel safer. Journalist Katie Pavlich posted on X after entering through Union Station since the Trump takeover:

“First time at Union Station this morning since Trump’s crime crackdown and there wasn’t a single crazy person screaming, vagrant or person doing drugs. Instead, lots of families visiting D.C. Wonderful!!!”

The White House X page is also highlighting the obvious change:

MAKE D.C. SAFE AGAIN! 🇺🇸

"First time at Union Station this morning since Trump’s crime crackdown and there wasn’t a single crazy person screaming, vagrant or person doing drugs. Instead, lots of families visiting..."

For those coming to America to see our great Capitol city, safety is a top priority. For far too long, the inmates have run the asylum—I mean that both literally and figuratively. For President Trump’s part, it looks like change has come quickly. My RedState colleague, Nick Arama, has the full breakdown. The numbers from the D.C. Police Union are staggering:

“DC crime since the announcement of federal control versus the 7 days prior:

Robbery ⬇️46%

ADW ⬇️6%

Carjacking ⬇️83%

Car Theft ⬇️21%

Violent Crime ⬇️22%

Property Crime ⬇️6%

All Crimes⬇️8%”

Look at those numbers. Robbery is down nearly 50 percent, with carjackings down 83 percent. Trump is doing to D.C. what he did with our southern border. It looks like once again, all we needed was a new president. I’m hopeful that very soon, residents will no longer have a D.C. crime story. The truth is simple: We can’t trust the same people who would promote a “BACK2GOOD” public relations campaign to end crime in the city. It’s not going to happen.

Editor's Note: The days of lawlessness in Washington, D.C. are over. Thanks to President Trump, our nation's capital will be SAFE once again.
