AOC Is Sanders 2.0 and We Should All Be Grateful

A new video released by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) sure does look to preview her as a possible presidential hopeful for Democrats in 2028. AOC is looking to take the reins of the socialist side of the party from Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT)—and it looks as if, at the moment, he’s happy to oblige. I would put a lot of money down betting that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez will run for president—I’m just not convinced it will be this time around, but she has her eyes on that prize eventually.

The problem for AOC is similar to the problems former VP Kamala Harris faced. She’s advocated for such insane policies over her career that it’ll be hard to backtrack on those. She’s popular, but she’s popular with the antisemites and eco-left. It’ll be hard for her to build a middle coalition and nearly impossible to pull over Republicans.

In the presidential seeming video her team released, she is seen with big smiles and shaking supporters' hands. Senator Sanders is by her side at times, seemingly passing the baton. In the dubbed voice-over, AOC can be heard highlighting where she’s from, discussing what divides us. It’s all very reminiscent of how President Obama got his start. However, President Obama ended up being one of the most divisive leaders we’ve had. Of course, he’s still dividing to this day.

Throughout the video, we hear from both AOC and Sanders:

AOC: You know Idaho, I am so touched being here. I’m a girl from the Bronx. To be welcomed here in this state, all of us together, seeing our common cause, this is what this country is all about. Don’t let them trick us into thinking we are enemies. Don’t let them trick us into thinking we can be separated into rural and urban, black and white, and Latino. We are one.

Sanders: Alexandria, they told us this was a conservative state. They got it wrong.

AOC: And Idaho, I know looking around here it can feel impossible for Republicans out here to be defeated. That’s not true. It’s simply not true. And from the waitress who is now speaking to you today from this podium, I can tell you impossible is nothing.

Sanders: As Alexandria just said, when we stand together, when we do not allow them to divide us up, there is no stopping us.

AOC: Miracles start with mustard seeds. And that is what each and every one of you represent today. Small miracles of faith in ourselves, in each other, and in the refusal to give up.

Do you see what I mean with the Obama connection? She even uses Scripture out of context, just like Obama used to do. This video was shot in Idaho at a “Fighting Oligarchy” rally—which she and Sanders got caught flying to on private jets. During the first portion of the video, she says the phrase, “To be welcome here in this state …” Why would she not be welcomed in Idaho? Yes, it’s a heavily Republican state, but is she referring to the fact that Idaho has a high population of whites? I thought this was a video bringing people together, and she starts with division.

I asked Grok to analyze the post from Team AOC, and even AI knows she’s lying:

- The X post by Team AOC, featuring Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at a rally in Idaho, aligns with a "Fighting Oligarchy" tour stop in Nampa on April 16, 2025, where 12,500 attendees opposed billionaire influence, specifically targeting Elon Musk’s DOGE initiative, as reported by the Idaho Statesman.

- AOC’s message of unity across rural, urban, Black, white, and Latino communities contrasts with her past rhetoric, as a 2020 GraniteGrok article highlighted her dismissal of unity with Republicans, suggesting a strategic shift in messaging amid recent political losses.

- The capitalization of "Black" and "Latino" but not "white" in the post reflects a stylistic choice rooted in cultural identity debates, as explained by the Columbia Journalism Review, which notes that capitalizing "white" risks aligning with white supremacist framing, sparking backlash in the replies.

To be clear, she is an upgrade from Senator Sanders. What do I mean by upgrade? For starters, she’s not elderly. Second, typically, when you upgrade, the new technology goes further—it has worked to fix its bugs and issues. That is what AOC has tried to do with the socialist message of Bernie Sanders. She’s gone further and crazier into socialist ideology.

The other perspective? Could you imagine VP Vance versus AOC in a debate? It would be every conservative's dream—a total take down of socialism, there would be no place to hide the things she’s said over the years. If she does run, I can’t wait to be condemned in every speech for my white privilege.
