As I write this, there is an inordinate amount of women currently cursing the male gender for the election of the one man they hate more than any other, and he was elected against a woman no less. Donald Trump beat a woman, and you'd think that from the way these women talk, he actually beat a woman, and America's men stood by and cheered.
The truth is, these lefty women aren't wholly wrong. Men played a huge role in Trump getting elected. They came out in droves to make it happen. According to the Associated Press, 53 percent of men aged 18-44 came out and voted for Trump, while 57 percent of men 45 and over pulled the lever for the bad orange man.
The left seemed shocked that so many young men came out and voted for Trump, and I think that's where these leftist women feel the most betrayed. The youth was supposed to be leftist. They were supposed to be well-trained by the culture. How could their programming fail so badly?
It must be all that misogyny! Men are just naturally garbage! I'm shaving my head in defiance of them!
That last one isn't hyperbole. That's actually a real reaction some women are having.
But it's not sexism, at least on the men's part. In fact, there are two main reasons men came out and voted for Trump.
First, and most obvious, is the fact that it's the economy, stupid. Democrats screwed it up, they didn't have a plan to fix it, Trump did. A lot of young men that fall into the Gen Z age group looked at their future prospects, didn't like what they saw, and voted for the guy who actually knows how to fix it. It's not that difficult to understand. A lot of people voted for Trump for that very reason.
But the second reason is probably the more interesting one. Without this second reasoning, the first reason for men voting Trump might not have happened, at least not in such a large capacity.
The same leftist women who are mad at men for voting Trump drove men there, or at least their unforgiving, uncompromising ideology did.
This is something I've been covering for some time, even well before I came to work at RedState. The attacks against men by Democrats, popular culture, and women influenced by it has been an ongoing problem for well over a decade now. As corporate media was busy airing commercials, shows, and movies that depicted men as dangerous, idiots, undeserving, and lesser than women, the corporate news media was releasing articles describing men as the same, cherry-picking data and discussing stories that painted the male of our species in a horrible light.
In our universities, men were being punished for mere claims of sexual assault, some of the most high-profile of which never actually happened. Twitter hashtags like "#yesallmen" circulated like wildfire, spreading narratives that the entirety of the male species was responsible for all the wrong that happened to women and society. "Teach men not to rape" echoed out of social media, as statistics like the "one in five women are sexually assaulted" came out of universities to try to back it up.
The left's message was clear. Men are garbage, and they need to be better, and in order to be better, they need to divorce themselves from their masculinity, which these culture-conquering feminists identified as the main culprit behind all of society's, and indeed, all of women's problems.

But that's like getting mad at a fish for swimming, and saying they need to be better at climbing trees. Masculinity is the very essence of men, and while there are some men who have less of it than others, the vast majority of men are masculine, like being masculine, and will continue to be masculine. While feminists consider this an egregious sin, that's some serious first-world thinking. Masculinity is the oil by which society runs smoothly. It keeps the peace, does the dirty jobs, and keeps the wolves in the hills.
One of my favorite quotes about men comes from John Eldredge, who wrote one of the most important books about men you'll ever read, Wild at Heart. Eldredge wrote that yes, men are dangerous, and that's a good thing, it just needs to be utilized correctly:
“Yes, a man is a dangerous thing. So is a scalpel. It can wound or it can save your life. You don't make it safe by making it dull; you put it in the hands of someone who knows what he's doing.”
Masculinity is not toxic, and judging by the behavior of some men who reject it, it's the lack of masculinity in men that is truly the issue. Honed masculinity is the thing that creates civilizations and keeps it safe, the rejection of masculinity, or the lack of understanding about it, creates uselessness, bitterness, and even harm.
The issue is that modern feminism never cared to differentiate the two. All masculinity was toxic. It was a danger to everyone, and it needed to be reduced, if not eliminated. It didn't want to rely on the time-tested refinement of chivalry, a method modern feminism outright rejected as belittling and sexist.
Then there were the after-effects of the sexual revolution, which effectively encouraged women to have sex outside of marriage, treating promiscuity as a virtue of independence and freedom. In the modern era, younger generations of women give their most intimate selves to men who are not proven, nor have any need to prove themselves. When their hearts are broken, and they're left disappointed, they don't self-reflect and understand that they opened themselves up for this, they just blame men, and popular culture was more than willing to validate their anger.
Men became the villains of society, and if you complained about it, you were sexist, or an incel, and you needed to be ignored, ridiculed, and dismissed. Men were relegated to the status of "other" in the eyes of this infectious culture. They were passed over for jobs in the name of diversity, had a lower acceptance and graduation rate at university, and were often looked down upon in the courts if they were up against a woman.
Even boys in schools were often medicated into being less boyish. As psychologist Michael Thompson pointed out in his book Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys, girls were the gold standard of behavior in public schools, and as such, boys were treated like defective girls.
Male suicides are a major problem, but this is something that the left actually makes derisive jokes about.
The Democrats recognized far too late that it had a stunning lack of men in its party, and instead of reaching out to them, listening to them, and working with them, it attempted to lure them in with identity group-think like "White Dudes for Harris" who, even while reaching out to men, couldn't help but denigrate them.
In fact, they were attempting to rewrite what masculinity was, pointing to people like "Doug Emhoff," the husband of Kamala Harris, as the ideal modern man. He was softer, more open, and the most important quality of all, willing to "cheerlead" for a woman in charge. Of course, Emhoff also impregnated his nanny while cheating on his wife, emotionally abused her till she miscarried, then allegedly slapped his girlfriend so hard across the face she spun around, but we're not supposed to associate that with a lack of masculinity, much less talk about it.
Men were even being rewarded by the left for literally trying to turn themselves into women. They could even go so far as to abuse or sexually assault women, invade their spaces, and steal their victories in sports, and the left would defend them to the death.
But while the left was cultivating this attitude toward men, the right was embracing them. It defended men, recognized the value of masculinity, and encouraged men to push themselves to greater heights. It listened to men, validated their concerns, fears, and hurts. It treated them as people. Even the women of the right, who embraced feminine qualities and being as beautiful as they are, stood for men, creating a welcoming space for them.
And as all this happened, the right's influence on men grew. The message of free market capitalism, family values, American patriotism, and tried and true virtues began to sink in. Before you knew it, men of all ages were involved in the process and enthusiastically voting for Trump. Black and Hispanic men began to drift right as well.
So in a way, the left was right. Sexism did get Trump elected, but it wasn't the "inherent sexism" of men, it was the loud and prideful sexism of the left. Without its obvious anti-male prejudice, men may not have so readily received the influence of the right.
What you saw in 2024 was, in large part, masculinity's revenge against the left for its years of abuse. The fallout was the result of militant feminism, anti-male culture, and misandrist ideals in pop culture that drove men out of the left and into the arms of the right. The proverbial red pill was, in a way, shoved down the throats of men by the feminists themselves.
There's a lesson to be learned here for the left... sexism is bad.
