Ideological Isolationism Is Hurting the Left, Sometimes Very Literally

I think leftist thought is so common that many in society don't actually see how bizarre it is. It's a normalized mentality that requires rigid obedience and a willingness to reject what's right in front of your face in order to continue believing in the cause. In a way, it's very cult-like.

That's not to say that every person who leans left is a brainwashed cultist. There are members of the left perfectly capable of holding their own in a debate and making perfect sense about their positions, but at this point in our society, the mainstream left leans so far over that these center-leftist are now considered right-wing. There are many examples of this, including Tulsi Gabbard, RFK Jr., and Elon Musk.

The fact that you have an entire swath of the American population proclaiming the danger and threat posed by the right as they literally have two assassination attempts on Donald Trump is enough to show you exactly what I mean here. There is no Earthly reason why this shouldn't be seizing the nation's attention and showing exactly how far the left has sunk into its radicalism, but here we are. The media has done such a good job of making leftist radicalism so common that it feels like extremism is as normal as walking your dog... maybe even a good thing.

Stop for a moment and consider the fact that a journalist literally lit himself on fire in order to voice his support for the "Free Palestine" movement. Not only is Palestine the actual, demonstrable bad guy in this fight, but the left has convinced itself that genocide against an entire people is okay because Israel is an oppressor... somehow. Sure, it's the only actual Democracy in the Middle East where women have rights and different religions, including the Muslim religion, can live peacefully together, but according to the left, Israelis deserve brutal treatment, murder, rape, kidnapping, and more so much that people are willing to light themselves on fire over it.

I say "people," because this journalist wasn't the first person to do this.

It's almost like there's an intense disconnect from reality that I feel has infected the left's core way of thinking. They believe that anything they do is justified on the belief that their enemies truly are evil. This causes them to do and say things that are overtly evil themselves without any remorse or thought to how hypocritical they're being.

It also causes them to do some very stupid things that only damage them while they truly believe they're making the case for why they're right.

For instance, Kamala Harris appearing on the "Call Me Daddy" podcast is a great example of this. As my colleague Nick Arama covered, the conversation between Harris and host Alexandra Cooper primarily focused on topics that would only resonate with leftist women.

What's insane is that she ditched a fast response to the needs of Hurricane Helene victims so that she could appear on this podcast and shore up her vote with people who were already going to vote for her in the first place.

For all intents and purposes, this should be a campaign-ending move. Entire presidential runs have collapsed over far less, and yet the left doesn't seem to understand why this is a problem. In a sane world, Harris's handlers would have called the interview the moment it was clear that Helene had devastated a solid chunk of the American population and, as a woman currently inhabiting the second-highest office in the land, it would have been a really good look to at least reschedule.

They didn't. They proceeded forward as planned.

The media won't call her out on it. In fact, they'll try to focus on ways to make this benefit Harris, only making them look worse for doing so as well.

This is what ideological isolation does to people. You can see the end result of it in the examples above, but if you want a constant stream of examples, you can look to a place like Hollywood, where celebrities are so extreme and out-of-touch that they look like residents of a foreign nation whose culture is nearly alien to our own.

But this isn't normal. Full stop. Mainstream leftism as it exists is absolutely bizarre, and I truly believe that in the future, scientists and psychologists should look back at this period in our history and study it. When I'm old and gray, I'd love to see the research on how a social contagion could grow to such extreme measures to the point where people on the left applaud at the thought of a grown man in lingerie dancing with children as brave and progressive.

That's if we can get this social contagion under control in the first place, and I'm not sure how that happens without divine intervention.
