Become Ungovernable, Save People

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, I'm trying to wrap my head around our government's response. They're inept to the point where it's almost cruel, and everything I see from the government right now points to one that has such disdain for the people that it's actively wanting to stop them from being saved, or is so lost on what to do, and they're making all the wrong decisions.

I woke up this morning to a slurry of posts on X that highlight just how horrific the government response has been, especially when it contrasts with the stellar performance and efforts of the people.

Firstly, let's take a look at this video posted by a woman who got a message from the Tennessee FEMA, who effectively told people to stop giving out help to people, and instead donate money to TEMA. The notification also added that there would be no help coming to people who lived down roads that it's too complicated to get down. The woman's reaction in the video says it all.

Effectively, the government wants people in the area to stop helping each other quickly and directly so that the slower, red tape-laden government can carry it out its own response. People are suffering now, and the government wants to delay that suffering so it can look like it's competent?

There aren't enough middle fingers in the world to satisfactorily respond to that kind of suggestion.

Why doesn't FEMA have the funds to help people currently experiencing this?

Because the Biden-Harris administration used FEMA disaster funds for illegal immigrants. As reported by The Federalist, the American people will just have to sit and suffer because they're clearly not the priority to this government:

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) allocated nearly $364 million in the fiscal year 2023 and $650 million for the 2024 fiscal year to the “Shelter and Services Program” “to provide humanitarian services to noncitizen migrants following their release from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS),” according to the government’s website.

The program is run in cooperation with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) “to support CBP in the safe, orderly and humane release of noncitizen migrants from short-term holding facilities,” FEMA’s website reads.

So the government is useless to begin with, but then you learn they're more than useless. They're actively trying to stop people from helping. Pete Buttigieg told people to not fly drones or aircraft over the disaster area in order to make way for responders who need to operate in the area... but it's pretty clear that this is either not happening or happening too slowly.

One helicopter pilot was flying to various locations to airlift out trapped civilians in North Carolina. According to the New York Post, he was threatened with arrest if he continued to save people. According to the pilot, he had to leave his son and co-pilot with the husband of a woman he had flown to a local airport. A fire official threatened him with arrest if he went back for the husband, as so he could only pick up his son, leaving the man stranded and alone:

Defeated, Seidhom returned to retrieve his son and explained what happened to the husband, whom he was forced to leave stranded in his crumbling driveway.

Within half an hour of the confrontation with the fire official, Seidhom said, a temporary flight restriction was enacted over Lake Lure, where he had been trying to save the stranded couple.

By the time the restriction was lifted on Monday, Seidhom reloaded his helicopter with food and bottled water and flew back to Lake Lure with the Carolina Emergency Response Team, a volunteer group dispatching pilots where people need to be rescued.

While he is now doing everything he can to help those in need, Seidhom says he believes the Lake Lure fire official’s decision to stop him from picking up victims on Sunday put lives in jeopardy.

“I can only imagine what the people were thinking. You’ve been stranded for 24, 36 hours. No way to speak with anyone. You don’t know what’s going on and you see a lifeline fly over and they keep going. I can only imagine what they were thinking.”

It doesn't stop there.

What has the government been doing with all our money. Well, it just approved $8 billion to Ukraine. It built a $230 million pier in Gaza that lasted all of 20 days. Illegals get $13,000 EBT cards with $5,000 cash. It gave $8.7 billion in aid to Israel.

What do the Americans affected by Helene get? A whopping $750.

Let's be real. No one is coming to save us but us. In fact, you're actively being held back by those who are supposed to help save you.

Sean Davis of The Federalist put it best in a post on X and I agree with him wholeheartedly when said "You have a moral obligation to ignore this regime, which is doing nothing to rescue people while threatening to arrest anyone who helps. This is an evil regime."

Become ungovernable. Save people.
