The Press Is Moving on to Their Next Deportation Martyr, and Signs Indicate He Is Another Troubled Figure

For reasons that defy logic (but are easily explained as default emotional opposition), the Democrats and the press have been yoking themselves to figures in the deportation news cycles that are consistently problematic. In the furor to automatically oppose President Trump in any activity and policy, it is a baffling reality to see the insistence that deeply flawed, violent, and illegal individuals be allowed to remain in the U.S.

And it has cast the media in a position of idiocy. Note that we rarely see reports now about Mahmoud Khalil, who was initially held up as a wrongfully detained student not granted due process. His name has dissipated like a vape cloud once he was shown to be an illegal, and an immigration court ruled he has a valid deportation order.

It has been with equal measures of bemusement and amusement that we have next seen that same kind of blind support for Kilmar Abrego Garcia, and it has only led to sheer embarrassment as a result. After spending weeks insisting this man is a sainted family figure, we have been delivered an endless stream of reality proving he is an illegal and a gang member. Funny thing, we have never been granted evidence showing “Maryland father” qualities; the only family indications seen have been in a pair of restraining orders made by his wife following domestic abuse incidents.

So it appears the press is edging away from Abrego Garcia, and in a dose of perfect timing, a new figure arrives for the media to embrace as their next cudgel against Trump’s immigration policies. A federal judge in Vermont has ruled that another individual taken into custody by ICE officials, Mohsen Mahdawi, needed to be released on bond. We can see right away that Mahdawi is tailor-made for the media hysterics, even as they refuse to see that he is a problematic character for their agitprop.

We are looking at another Columbia student, one who had his residency credentials revoked due to campus activism, and who left the courthouse pledging to fight against President Trump. You can practically hear the journalists as they begin drooling over this story. Mahdawi is already being positioned as a wrongfully detained resident, taken into custody for merely expressing his First Amendment rights. But how will the press square the other indicators that this noble student has some troubling issues in his past?

Oh sure, the press has given full coverage of bold quotes given by Mahdawi as he left his captivity – "We, the people, will hold the Constitution accountable for the principles and values that we believe in. And I am saying it, clear and loud: To President Trump and his cabinet, I'm not afraid of you." That kind of Trump antagonism could have been scripted by any major news outlet, so pounce on those quotes, they did.

Given less promotion are the past quotes that have inspired his detainment. As shown in court, the FBI was informed some time back that Mahdawi had been browsing gun shops in his region and bragged that he was a violent opponent of the Jewish people. Seems somewhat concerning that he would come here and tout how he had killed Jews.

Rather telling how this little nugget from his case fails to be mentioned in most of the news reports covering his release. And there are other instances where details from his campus activism are blithely avoided.

Just to interrupt this claim that Mahdawi is one who fosters peace and only wants to bridge relations between Israel and Palestine, note the avoidance of this video where the warm-hearted student injected himself in the middle of a gathering of Jewish students calling for the release of the babies held hostage by Hamas.

The pro-Israel group Canary Mission has more instances of Mohsen Mahdawi agitating and displaying a rather distinct level of unpeaceful intolerance for the Jewish people.

Yet despite all of this, the press appears to be content to drape their sympathetic words over Mahdawi’s shoulders. He represents the very figure they have been pining for in the relentless opposition to President Trump. This desire, however, clearly is overshadowing the need to conduct basic research and see if this is a man with a clear character to hold up as a virtuous figure.

It certainly appears to be yet another case of the media highlighting an oppressed martyr who turns out to be a valid example of the type in need of being deported. Supporting a terror group and fomenting intolerance is the very thing that will see the media – once again – cast in the position of blind support for someone with intentions to oppose this country’s best interests.

Editor’s Note: Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left's lies, new legislation wasn't needed to secure our border, just a new president.
