THE ESSEX FILES: While the Left Cowers, Louisiana Establishes Its Belle Reve for Biden's Border Villains

The open-borders lobby and their media stenographers are clutching their pearls again. The Associated Press, in a fit of hand-wringing concern, would have you believe Louisiana’s plan to detain illegal immigrants is a “warning.” Wrong. It’s the only sane response to the legion of illegal villains unleashed into the country by the Biden administration’s deliberate dereliction of duty.

Rather than creating a humanitarian crisis, Governor Jeff Landry (R) is establishing a Belle Reve for the cartel associates, gang members, and criminal aliens flooding across our border. Using a complex inside the Louisiana State Penitentiary, an immense rural prison better known as Angola, will be used for some of the “worst of the worst” ICE detainees, Noem told reporters as she stood on the grounds of the facility near a new sign reading, “Louisiana Lockup.”

For those who don’t consume comic books along with the mainstream news. Belle Reve is the infamous prison in DC Comics where the government incarcerates super-powered metahuman threats too dangerous for an ordinary prison run by Amanda Waller, a liberal dream boss. That’s precisely what this crisis has created. The Biden administration has opened the gates to a real-life Suicide Squad of criminality, and yet, the left’s only plan is to release these individuals into your communities. Louisiana’s plan — in partnership with the Trump administration —is to put them where they belong.

The usual suspects are already screaming. The ACLU’s Alanah Odoms hysterically claims we are “staring down the barrel of a humanitarian crisis designed to inflict maximum cruelty.” This is the kind of absurd, Orwellian rhetoric we’ve come to expect from the pro-crime left. What’s truly cruel is forcing American citizens to bear the humanitarian cost of this invasion, the drug overdoses, the gang violence, the overwhelmed schools and hospitals.

Using a state prison and a National Guard base is a fiscally responsible and strategically brilliant move. It’s a statement that America will no longer be victimized by the prior administration’s malicious incompetence. We will use every tool at our disposal to defend our people.

The choice could not be clearer. On one side: weakness, open borders, and the chaotic embrace of lawlessness. On the other: strength, security, and the rule of law. Louisiana has chosen a side. It has chosen to partner with the Trump administration and refurbish the facilities necessary to help incarcerate the very real villains of Biden’s border crisis. Every red state governor should be watching and following Louisiana’s (and Florida's) lead. This is how we start taking our country back, one secured detention facility at a time.
