A major shake-up is occurring at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. On Wednesday, CDC Director Susan Monarez was fired after just a month on the job. It wasn't immediately revealed what led to the move, but various reports indicate that she refused to fire certain people within the CDC who were standing in the way of the Trump administration's agenda.
Following Monarez's ouster, several CDC leaders turned in their resignations, with one of them being Dr. Demetre C. Daskalakis. That's a name you might recognize. In fact, I wrote a piece on Daskalakis back in 2023 after he was named Joe Biden's "monkeypox czar."

At the time, it was apparent that he was a complete degenerate, more obsessed with pushing LGBT ideology than promoting good health practices.
Biden monkeypox advisor Demetre Daskalakis says the Biden administration aims to "support peoples' joy as opposed to calling them 'risky'":

Daskalakis, who is gay and appears to have some rather odd fetishes, spent his time seeking to protect wild sex orgies as an expression of joy, despite it being the very behavior that was spreading monkeypox. So yeah, that tells you about how valuable his "expertise" was within the CDC.
I won't post all of his overwrought resignation letter, but we'll hit a few of the highlights.
My resignation letter from CDC.

Dear Dr. Houry,
I am writing to formally resign from my position as Director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), effective August 28, 2025, close of business.…
I am unable to serve in an environment that treats CDC as a tool to generate policies and materials that do not reflect scientific reality and are designed to hurt rather than to improve the public’s health. The recent change in the adult and children’s immunization schedule threaten the lives of the youngest Americans and pregnant people.
Yes, that's a supposed "expert" using the phrase "scientific reality" in the same paragraph as the phrase "pregnant people," one of the most ridiculously unscientific terms to ever be invented by the left. Pregnant people are women, and men can not become women. Further, a woman who claims to be a man does not become a "pregnant person." They are still just a woman, mentally ill and deluded as they might be.
If that's an indication of how Daskalakis did his job, and it absolutely is when you look at his history, then he should have been fired long before he had the chance to resign. Not surprisingly, he was also an open supporter of Kamala Harris.

By the way, at the end of his rant, Daskalakis signed off with his "preferred pronouns."
Thank you once again for the support and guidance I have received from you and previous CDC leadership throughout my tenure. I wish the CDC continued success in its vital mission and that HHS reverse its dangerous course to dismantle public health as a practice and as an institution. If they continue the current path, they risk our personal well-being and the security of the United States.
Sincerely,
Demetre C. Daskalakis MD MPH (he/his/him)
In short, good riddance. We don't need left-wing ideologues running the nation's public health sector. Hopefully, Daskalakis is just one of many who end up on the street, and the fact that he was still at the CDC eight months into the Trump administration shows there's still a lot of firings that need to take place.
