Four DHS officials working for the sub-agency FEMA are being terminated after they violated one of President Donald Trump's executive orders. As RedState reported, a payment of $59 million was sent to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal immigrants during the first week of February. That came after the White House ordered a stop to such spending, with the intention being to redirect the money to disaster relief for Americans.

The payment was discovered by the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency.
The @DOGE team just discovered that FEMA sent $59M LAST WEEK to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants. Sending this money violated the law and is in gross insubordination to the President’s executive order. That money is meant for American disaster relief and instead is being spent on high end hotels for illegals! A clawback demand will be made today to recoup those funds.
As of Monday evening, the perpetrators hadn't been identified yet, but they were tracked down overnight. According to a senior DHS official, as reported by Fox News, the four government employees will be fired for "unilaterally making the egregious payment."

This may seem cut and dried given to anyone who works in the private sector, but given how the government works, I'd expect this to be the beginning of a long fight. It's easier to sprout wings and fly than terminate a government bureaucrat, and you can bet a lawsuit is already being prepared. You can also bet some lower-court judge will step in with a temporary restraining order. That seems to be the weapon of choice these days in trying to stop Donald Trump from operating as president.

All the Trump administration can do is keep moving forward. Hopefully, the fight over bureaucratic power will eventually lead to a Supreme Court ruling that finally puts an end to this deep state subversion. American voters elected Trump, whether you like him or not. They did so knowing that legal power over federal agencies resides with the presidency. They did not vote to give faceless bureaucratic employees the final say in how their taxpayer money is spent.
Democrats who keep pushing this issue through lawfare are going to regret it.
