Kamala Harris Is Crying About the Debate Again, and I've Got a Suggestion for Her

I regret to inform you that Kamala Harris is crying about the September 10th presidential debate on ABC News again. That comes after over a month of her campaign taking contradictory positions on the topic.

As RedState reported, Harris previously proclaimed the "debate about debates" over, suggesting that if Trump didn't abide by the original terms negotiated by Joe Biden, that he'd be a coward. After a bit of complaining, the former president accepted. Less than two weeks from fight night, Harris has done a complete turnaround, demanding rule changes and claiming that Trump is scared if he doesn't agree.

It's childish and pathetic, but she's not letting up. On Saturday, Harris put out another social media post whining about the muted mic setup that ABC News has already cemented, and that the Trump campaign has agreed to in writing.

We are running for President of the United States. Let’s debate in a transparent way—with the microphones on the whole time.

What she's saying there is simply false. Donald Trump has never endorsed a rule change to have the mics open. While he did comment that he didn't care either way, in the same exchange, he said multiple times that the Harris campaign should be allowed to change the rules. There has never been any division between the former president and his campaign on the matter.

To then use that lie to push the idea that Trump isn't capable of being president is just stupid. It's the logic of a petulant child, and it's pathetic to see from a major party nominee.

Harris then goes on to claim she wants to "debate in a transparent way" by having the mics unmuted the whole night. Well, I've got some great news for her. If the vice president truly wants a no-holds-bar affair, there's a solution. Donald Trump has offered to debate her on Fox News with an audience and open mics. If she is the warrior she's trying to present herself as, then she should show up.

She won't, though, because this is all mindless bluster. Harris is terrified of any unscripted situation, something that was evidenced by her recent joint interview with Tim Walz. Speaking to CNN's Dana Bash, the vice president sounded like a third-grader who hadn't done their homework. The word salads, the talking in circles, the faux attempts at sounding like an intellectual. It was all on full display. Harris doesn't want a transparent debate. She just wants to be able to use her "I'm speaking" line the first moment Trump breathes into his mic. That's all this entire thing is about.

Trump is doing the right thing by sticking to his guns. The rules in place were negotiated by Joe Biden, and ABC News has asked both campaigns to agree to them with no suggestion they can be changed. The Trump campaign signed on the dotted line while the Harris campaign is still flailing. If she doesn't want to show up, then that's on her. The more she makes an issue of this, the weaker she looks.
