As RedState reported, Melania Trump recently expressed her pick for vice president on her husband's presumed 2024 ticket: Tucker Carlson. 

Here's a bit of what was said to Axios, which even provided a supposed quote of what Melania Trump thinks about the idea, saying Carlson "would make a powerful onstage extension of her husband."

Rumors continue to swirl that South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem might be Trump's choice, U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, or even Arizona Republican Kari Lake. 

However, in an interesting twist, Trump's wife, Melania, has reportedly lobbied for one of the most well-known figures in conservative media: Tucker Carlson. 

According to a report from Axios, Melania thinks Carlson "would make a powerful onstage extension of her husband." 

Carlson has now responded after being pressed on the matter Thursday evening. In a move that may surprise some (but not all), he's not a fan of the idea and quickly shot down the possibility. 

“I have no interest in that,” Tucker Carlson says when a member of the audience presses again whether he’d be Trump’s VP. He gives one lecture to his employees, Tucker adds, “stay in your freaking lane.”

“God would have to yell at me very loud,” Tucker Carlson says at APP gala when asked about speculation that he’d join the ticket as VP with Trump. Being around politicians constantly, he adds,  “is so repulsive to me.”

I'm not sure if I'm in the minority, but this is exactly what I figured he'd say. Carlson is no dummy. He knows that right now, he's got more money than he can spend, a loving family, and the freedom to do as he pleases in essentially any aspect of life. He has long laughed off the idea of being in politics, and I've never thought that was just him showing faux humility. He has a genuine lack of interest, and I don't blame him one bit. 

There is also another major factor that is going to influence the decision of anyone offered to be vice president on a Trump ticket. Right now, most on the right are high on polls and acting as if the current environment is what will exist in November of 2024. Understand that Democrats have not even begun to spend money yet attacking Trump (they'll have well over one billion dollars when the time comes). More importantly, though, they've still got what they see as their ace in the hole.

Yes, it's that thing no one wants to talk about, but as Andrew McCarthy recently pointed out, there is a storm coming that Republicans are trying to pretend away.

McCarthy goes on to point out in his article that not only is a conviction almost certain because of where the trial is taking place, it is very unlikely that Trump will be granted bail pending appeal because the federal standard is to not do that. Long story short, if you thought 2023 was stupid, wait until all of that goes down in mid-2024. It's going to be insane, and I'm firmly at the "just laugh at the craziness" phase as a means of keeping my sanity.

Would Tucker Carlson, a guy who has everything at his fingertips right now, want to jump in the middle of that political nuclear war, including taking on the serious risks involved? I think the answer is pretty obviously no. He's a free man, and free men aren't usually keen to slap on a different ball and chain. Not everyone wants power, and I think that's a good thing.
