Republican Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine is facing major blowback after saying in a CBS News interview posted Tuesday that deporting Haitians from his state was wrong because they take “jobs that were not being filled by other people” and don’t want to go back to the island nation because it is literally “hell.”
DeWine:
"Haiti is hell today. So you'd be sending people … back to hell," he said. "Very few of these Haitians will voluntarily go back to Haiti. If they have to leave, they'll go someplace else. They want to work. They want to support their family. They don't want to go back to Haiti."

"These are people who have helped Springfield really come back," DeWine said. "The Haitians who are living there and employed there, they came there to work, and they came there because there were jobs that were not being filled by other people."

“Wages were going up to [sic] fast, so to save money, we made a deal with the Biden admin to import workers, so we wouldn’t have to pay Americans to work in the factories we built during Trump’s first term.”
That is what this disgrace of a Governor is saying.
They never even gave the Americans who live here in Springfield a chance to get these jobs. Our wages were going up, the economy was recovering.
Then they dumped 30,000 people who don’t even speak English in and the wages stagnated again.
The hospitals got crowded, the schools started needing full time Creole translators.
All so DeWeasel and his buddies could save 45% on labor.
The day this man leaves office there will be celebrations in the streets.

DeWine seems to be forgetting one word in TPS: “temporary.”
TPS was created by Congress in the Immigration Act of 1990 and was designed to help foreign nationals whose country has been hit by national disaster, war, or other emergencies and allows them to get work permits. What it was not designed to do was approve their permanent residence in the United States.
DeWine made similar comments on CNN in June following the Supreme Court ruling that gave the green light to the Trump administration to end Haitian TPS protections.

DeWine needs to take note of three things: 1) The word “temporary,” 2) the fact that the American people voted for exactly what Trump is doing, and 3) SCOTUS ruled that he is well within his rights to enforce the law as the Immigration Act intended.
