Trump Rules Out Running for This Particular Office After His Presidency

Donald Trump made it clear that there is one title he’s not interested in putting on his resume: vice president.

Some have floated the idea that he could serve a third term if he won the VP spot in 2028 and then the president resigned, but he says that’s not in his future. It would be “too cute,” he told reporters aboard Air Force One.

A reporter floated the idea to the president Monday, but he shot it down:

"I'd be allowed to do that," Trump said on Monday, in an exchange with reporters aboard Air Force One as he flew from Malaysia to Tokyo.

But he added: "I wouldn't do that. I think it's too cute. Yeah, I would rule that out because it's too cute. I think the people wouldn't like that. It's too cute. It's not - it wouldn't be right."

Trump on the Shutdown: 'We Just Want People to Get Paid'

It would be an interesting way for Trump to serve a third term, an idea that drives the left bonkers. He has refused to rule out another stint, probably for that very reason: he loves getting their knickers in a twist:

'I HAVE MY BEST NUMBERS EVER'

Referring to the possibility of a third term, Trump said: "I would love to do it. I have my best numbers ever."

When pressed by a reporter whether he was not ruling out a third term, he said, "Am I not ruling it out? I mean you'll have to tell me..."

Asked about whether he would be willing to fight in court over the legality of another presidential bid, Trump responded, "I haven't really thought about it."

Earlier in October, during negotiations to avert the Schumer Shutdown, Trump epically trolled Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) with an AI video of himself tossing a "Trump 2028" to the House Minority Leader:

The 22nd Amendment of the Constitution, ratified in 1951 after former president Franklin D. Roosevelt won the presidency four times, specifies a two-term maximum for anyone holding the office. In addition, a commander in chief who serves more than two years of somebody else’s term can only serve one more term following.

Trump also gave his strong backing to VP JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, whom he clashed with harshly during the 2016 election:

Trump on Monday also said Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were “great people” who could seek the presidency in 2028.

“I think if they ever formed a group, it’d be unstoppable,” he said. “I really do. I believe that.”

Rubio, standing behind Trump in the plane cabin, chuckled and bowed his head sheepishly as Trump predicted a bright political future for him and nodded when Trump brought up Vance.

Trump’s statements about a third term have muddied the Republican Party’s future, with jockeying already under way among potential Republican successors even as some Trump allies back the idea of him remaining in office.

Two thousand twenty-eight will be interesting indeed.

Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
