As he was headed off to The Hague for the 2025 NATO summit, Trump had a reminder for lawmakers: sure, there’s a lot going on between the summit, the Iran-Israel conflict and the anti-ICE protests, but don’t forget about the Big Beautiful Bill.
And don't even think about going on a July 4 recess until you get it to my desk, he warned in a Truth Social post Tuesday that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent retweeted:
Peace abroad. Prosperity at home. Let’s finish the job and pass THE ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL!

As RedState’s Ward Clark reported earlier Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) is determined to get voting done this weekend:
Senate Majority Leader Plans Epic Weekend Showdown on Big, Beautiful Bill
“To my friends in the Senate, lock yourself in a room if you must, don’t go home, and GET THE DEAL DONE THIS WEEK,” the president wrote.
“Work with the House so they can pick it up, and pass it, IMMEDIATELY. NO ONE GOES ON VACATION UNTIL IT’S DONE,” he added.
There are still plenty of negotiations left to complete, and if the bill makes it through the Senate, it will need to go back to the House again before it can be sent to the White House for signature.
Other GOP leaders echoed the president’s sentiment:
“We will remain here until this reconciliation bill is passed,” Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) said. “By placing it on President Trump’s desk by the 4th of July, we will be ensuring that future generations of Americans can live in safety and prosperity.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) also privately told Republicans in the lower chamber to keep their schedules flexible amid negotiations for the megabill.
“Now that we have made PEACE abroad, we must finish the job here at home by passing ‘THE GREAT, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL,’ and getting the Bill to my desk, ASAP. It will be a Historic Present for THE GREAT PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” Trump added on Truth Social.
If things get stuck, they can always have a BBBBBQ:
Let’s not go home for July 4th—let’s pass the bill. And if we have to stay through the 4th, we celebrate Independence and throw a big BBQ on the Capitol lawn.

We can call it the one Big Beautiful BBQ. pic.twitter.com/yEkKbnsf4a
Trump and the GOP have a lot riding on this bill, and a failure to pass it would significantly hamper the president's agenda. There's a lot in there:
The proposed One Big Beautiful Bill Act is intended to be Trump’s signature legislative achievement of the year, featuring bolstered border security, an extension of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, no taxes on tips, no taxes on overtime pay, an array of spending cuts and many other conservative wish-list items.
It could turn out to be quite the interesting weekend. RedState will keep you apprised of the ongoing developments.
