One of the key issues of the 2026 midterm elections, and in the run-up to the 2028 presidential election, will continue to be immigration. More specifically, illegal immigration and how to get a handle on it. President Donald Trump was reelected in 2024 on the promise of mass deportations of illegal immigrants that the Biden administration welcomed into the country with open arms. Democrats will pay lip service to "immigration reform," but a new poll shows that they aren't fooling anyone about what they really want.

A new Harvard Harris Poll surveyed 2,009 registered voters. What it showed was what many Americans have suspected, that the majority of Republicans, independents, and even some Democrats agree that the Democratic Party wants open borders. It's a "Well, duh" moment that is now backed up with numbers.

They believe in open borders and mass migration.
It’s sick.
Of those surveyed, 56 percent agreed that Democrats want a wide-open southern border, and 44 percent disagreed. When broken down by party affiliation, 63 percent of Republicans, 52 percent of independents, and "others," and even 51 percent of Democrats agreed that open borders is a goal of the Democrat Party.
Even with a crucial midterm election approaching, Democrats still refuse to read the room. The poll showed that, of those surveyed, 77 percent are in favor of deporting criminal illegal immigrants, and 54 percent support deporting all illegal immigrants. Democrats are now clearly on the side of illegal immigrants and not actual Americans, as Senate Democrats continue to block funding for ICE. They are also counting on their propaganda arm, otherwise known as the media, to, as usual, paint the GOP as the bad guys.
That part appears to be working. The poll also showed that of those surveyed, 35 percent support the partial shutdown, but 53 percent say Republicans are at fault, and 47 percent say Democrats are to blame.

Republicans and conservatives have long claimed that the reason for the massive influx of illegal immigrants during the Biden administration was that, as Democrats lose voters in many of their traditional voting blocs, like black and Hispanic voters, they need to replace those voters, and bank on, at some point, those illegal immigrants becoming legal citizens. Why else would Democrats be so adamantly opposed to any kind of deportations? They appear to care very little, if at all, about the victims of violent illegal immigrants, like Laken Riley, Rachel Morin, or the latest victim, Sheridan Gorman. Democrat Rep. Pramila Jayapal (WA-7) recently called for reparations for illegal immigrants who have been "traumatized" by American law enforcement.
Democrats don't really care about reading the room for the midterms. It's their survival after the midterms they are worried about.
