SHE'S BAAACK! Cori Bush Announces Run for Congress

With the 2026 midterms a little more than a year away, and their poll numbers beyond abysmal, Democrats continue to double and triple down on crazy and unhinged. They are driven by an insane desire for power and their pathological hatred of President Donald Trump. Since the 2024 presidential election, they have refused to do any sort of collective introspection or reflection on the state of their party. Now, as if they needed one, they may have one more problem. There is always that one person who refuses to take the hint and leave, and Democrats are about to find out they have one, too.

On Friday, former Rep. Cori Bush announced she is running for her old seat in Congress. Bush won her first term in Congress in 2020, beating out long-time incumbent Lacy Clay, who had held the seat for 20 years. She was reelected in 2022. As speculation mounted as to whether she would throw her hat in the ring in 2026, a spokesman for current Congressman Wesley Bell, Jordan Blase, ripped Bush, saying that Bush had been "fired" by voters, and added, “Congressman Bell is focused on making life better for his constituents, and that’s the case he’ll continue making on the campaign trail.” Bell himself posted on X, saying, "Missouri voters already rendered their verdict when they voted her out of office last year and chose to move on." Bell soundly defeated Bush in the August 2024 primary, 51-46 percent.

Local political consultants have weighed in on Bush's chances at reelection. St. Louis University political science professor Ken Warren stated that Bush will have "an uphill battle," and added bluntly, "Bell is now the incumbent. It’s going to be tougher to beat him.” But Warren's analysis is only part of the Democrat Party's looming trouble that is Cori Bush.

Cori Bush came onto the scene during the 2014 unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, after the death of Michael Brown, and became a vocal Black Lives Matter activist. It took her to Washington, D.C., where she quickly became associated with "the squad," a group of radical progressive Democrats that includes Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI). She fit right in, advocating for defunding the police, and introduced a bill calling for $14 trillion in reparations for black Americans.

Bush has also had some legal issues. Earlier this year, her husband, Cortney Merritts III, was indicted in federal court, charged with filing fraudulent applications with the Small Business Administration in 2020 and 2021, allowing him to collect more than $20,000 in COVID relief funds.

But Bush's biggest step on the rake came after the October 7, 2023, attack by Hamas on Israel, killing roughly 1,200 people and taking more than 240 hostages. Along with her squad buddies, she denounced Israel's military response and used the term "ethnic cleansing," foolishly forgetting that there is a large Jewish population in her district. Wesley Bell ultimately took in around $10 million from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). Bush called out AIPAC in her concession speech on election night, saying, “I’m coming to tear your kingdom down.”

The question for Democrats is, with their poll numbers hovering around 33 percent, and many government agencies blaming them for the government shutdown, do they really want as big an infusion of crazy as Cori Bush would be? Her old squad buddies will no doubt campaign for her and would be glad to have her back in the ranks to further drive voters away from the Democrat Party. Cori Bush is forgetting that she has a record, and voters may have long memories.

But now, it's personal for her. In full disclosure, as a former and now potentially future downtrodden constituent of Cori Bush's, too bad it won't be personal for us.

Editor's Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
