Speculation continues to swirl around the release of documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case, and why suddenly, it is priority one for Democrats, who are being helped along as usual by their cronies in the media. On Wednesday, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) stepped before a group of reporters to remind the nation why President Donald Trump has correctly identified the media as "fake news." He also took the opportunity to tweak Democrats in the process.
Epstein Documents that can and should have already been unsealed:

- search warrant applications
- 302’s with witnesses
- all financial trades Epstein made
- wire transfers to and from his accounts a
Basic stuff.
This is not even a big ask.
Johnson immediately jumped on a New York Times headline from Tuesday that read that House Republicans are "adjourning until September to avoid a vote on releasing the Epstein materials." He fired back, saying, "I just want you to know, and everyone here knows, that that is an outright lie; it's not true." Johnson went on to say the Times "was forced to modify their headline and update it today."

Johnson proceeded to dismantle the Times article, explaining that the published schedule of the House was decided upon in December of 2024. Johnson stated:
We are fulfilling the calendar, we're working, we'll be working tomorrow, there have been votes every day this week. We have nine or ten committees working through mark-ups this week, many tomorrow. Congress is doing its work. No one is adjourning early.
He explained the reason for the August recess, that it is an important "district work period" for House members. Johnson continued to take apart the New York Times article, calling it "completely false," and stated that "no one in Congress is 'blocking' Epstein documents." He called out House Democrats, saying:
What we are doing here, Republicans, are preventing Democrats from making a mockery of the rules committee process because we refuse to engage in their political charade.
Johnson accused Democrats of "weaponizing" the issue and called it "absolutely shameless." He rightly pointed out that for all four years of the Biden administration, Democrats had no interest in any kind of transparency, in the Epstein case, or anything else. Now, as Johnson said, "all of a sudden, they want the American people to believe that they actually care. Their actions belie their words."
There’s not “list” per se. That’s just an internet term. There are stacks and stacks of papers surrounding Epstein. Not some list of crimes and criminals. Adding (and subtracting) to that TROVE of documents is not a difficult task if one has access. https://t.co/jf4Su3LTAC

Johnson then bluntly stated what the attitude of his fellow Republicans, and many Americans, is toward the Democrats' abrupt embrace of transparency, saying:
We will not be lectured on transparency by the same party that orchestrated one of the most shameless, dangerous political coverups in the history of the United States, and that was President Biden's obvious mental decline.
Speaker Johnson went on to say that House Republicans were "in lock step" with President Trump on the issue of releasing "all credible information" related to the Epstein documents.

Johnson also spoke of two resolutions that bring up real legal issues. One introduced by Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) would provide no protection for Epstein's victims. The other, introduced by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), Johnson believes, does not protect Epstein's victims enough. He added that most of the Epstein documents are sealed and there is a legal process to follow to unseal those documents.
You would think by now, the New York Times would get tired of retracting headlines they know to be false, only to have Republicans call them out on it. Americans should know what and who is contained in the Epstein files. But maybe more importantly, they should know why House Democrats are suddenly so fascinated by transparency.
