Leaders of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Justice Department (DOJ) held a joint press conference on Thursday about the administration's wins in the effort to get to the bottom of the thousands of unaccompanied minors who went missing during the Pres. Joe Biden era - and holding those responsibie to account.
DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said that investigators learned that some of the children were not just unaccounted for; it got even more heinous. They were reportedly abused and raped by their captors.
Democrats were no help in uncovering the criminal activity, as they hindered the progress of Trump administration DHS agents with the partial government shutdown, Mullin said:
SECRETARY MULLIN: DEMOCRATS ARE ALLOWING KIDS TO BE RAPED "600-700 TIMES"

"These individuals that the Democrats seem to want to DEFUND...were able to push and go find these kids. We found 146,000 kids so far."

"These individuals [DHS agents] - that the Democrats seem to want to defund, but because of President Trump we finally funded them from three years - were able to push and go find these kids," Sec. Mullin said. "We found 146,000 kids so far. We still have nearly 300,000 missing."
He continued, "We're investigating reports...where some of these kids claim that they were raped 6-700 times."
As I previously wrote, Mullin spoke about the Dems' obstruction for purely political reasons, during a recent interview about the restoration of funding so his department's employees can do their work. He reminded everyone that Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) took the hardest hit, as the shutdown affected them for 100 days.

Also speaking at the press conference on Thursday was Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, who shared how the Trump administration DOJ (Justice Department) has started the cleanup duty on the mess from the Biden-Harris open border policies:

Never forget what Joe Biden allowed to happen at our borders.
"I think I'm stating the obvious," Blanche said, "that when government fails to protect our borders, it is the most vulnerable who suffer." He added that his department and the Trump administration has "zero tolerance for unlawful activity, and is commited to protecting the children who suffered the consequences of open borders." His full remarks above are worth watching.
Back in Sept. 2025, my colleague Jennifer Oliver O'Connell asked why the recovery of these unaccompanied minors was not getting enough attention, as only a fraction of them had been found.
Then in January, we learned from Border Czar Tom Homan that efforts by Team Trump 47 were already paying off with over 100,000 illegal alien minors being rescued in a short time span.
