Festivus came early for the UN this year. Very early.
President Donald Trump spoke before the assembled UN delegates yesterday to start the "airing of grievances" stage of Festivus. President Trump detailed the problems he had with the UN, and how their actions, inactions, foolish statements, and policies have been disappointing, if not disgusting, to him and all right-thinking Americans, and to the good people living everywhere.
It was a tough speech and given to a tough audience. To borrow a phrase from a well-known movie some may remember, the assembled delegates of the UN are altogether the most "wretched hive of scum and villainy" that may be found anywhere within this galaxy.

My RedState colleague Bonchie has already gone through much of Trump’s “airing of grievances” list, but I would like to add the following comments:
Iran – Trump started off by noting that only the U.S. had the ability and the willingness to obliterate the jihadist terror state’s nuclear weapons development program, which the U.S. did, just recently. Left unmentioned by him was the two-decade-long international and UN-led campaign to keep Iran from developing nuclear weapons, which did nothing but lead to the “fictional” international deal, the JCPOA.
Gaza/Hamas/Palestinian Arabs – Trump lambasted the UN and the international community for rewarding Palestinian terrorism with another (besides Jordan) “Palestinian State.” Which, he said, as any logical person should understand, will inevitably lead to more terrorism.
Ukraine – Trump excoriated many nations, including China, India, and some of the other NATO countries (besides the U.S.), that constantly demand peace between Russia and Ukraine but provide the Russian aggressor with funding through the consistent and heavy purchase of Russian oil. This is especially hypocritical coming from the NATO allies.
Bioweapons – Trump talked about the increasing danger coming from the development and use of bioweapons, and of the U.S. desire to outlaw them. Meanwhile, of course, the UN does nothing, while certain nations – see China – work on producing them and thereby endanger the world.
Migration – Trump castigated the UN for demanding open borders and funding an assault on Western nations, which has allowed third-world aliens to flood the Western nations and send them to “hell.” Only during the Trump administration has the U.S. taken control over its own border, and the Western European nations still refuse to do so. Instead, these nations provide generous welfare benefits and refuse to repatriate the increasing number of radical Muslims, who increase crime and violence throughout the host nations.
Drug trade on the open seas – Trump promised that the U.S. would continue to target and sink illegal drug cargo ships run by narco-terrorists from South America, especially Venezuela, who have caused hundreds of thousands of deaths in the U.S. The UN has done nothing constructive to end this scourge.
Climate Change Policies – Trump ridiculed the UN's constant demands for “green” technologies and renewable energy, none of which produce practical sources of energy. He pointed out that the international radical environmentalists have shifted their story of woe from global cooling to global warming to now climate change – which he called (rightly) “the greatest con job” made by the UN and others. And he noted that none of their dire predictions have come true. He further argued that China, despite making many electric batteries, doesn’t bother using clean energy, but instead uses very dirty coal, and their polluted air flows into the rest of the world. Finally, he scolded the UN’s desire to implement climate rules as merely a plan to redistribute money from rich countries to poor third-world countries. And he also criticized the Paris Climate Accord, which he removed the U.S. from because it forced the U.S. to pay excessively for its energy use but allowed China and Russia to avoid doing so.
Christians – Trump pointed out that the UN never acts to prevent the persecution of Christians, who are now the most victimized religion across the globe, largely because of radical Muslim forces.

As we all know, this “airing of grievances” by President Trump is just the first stage of Festivus. The “feats of strength” stage comes next. And, somehow, I doubt any of the soy latte drinking, multiple gendered eggheads at the UN will be able to pin Donald Trump.
This Festivus at the UN may never end.
