We don't often see Saturday sessions from the United States Senate, unless there are big issues on the table. Well, the SAVE America Act is a pretty big issue. On Saturday, the United States Senate resumed debate on the SAVE America Act, which (among a host of other things) will require proof of citizenship for voter registration and presentation of identification for voting. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) spoke on the bill in a brief presser; he said in part:
Mr. President, I said at the beginning of this debate that I was going to be using the term common sense a lot, and that's because the SAVE American Act unites a bunch of common-sense policies. The kind of things that are just intuitively obvious, at least, they should be. And should be getting 80-90 votes, or more, here in the Senate. I've talked at length this week about common-sense election policies, like showing a photo ID at the polls. And demonstrating that you're an American citizen, in other words, eligible to vote, when you register.
This is another case where Democrats are on the wrong side of an 80-20 issue, and yet, here we are. An Senator Thune added and as I have written on more occasions than I can count, one needs an identification for almost every aspect of modern life; this rejection by Democrats on this issue isn't just puzzling, it's farcical.

Senator Thune brought up several ways in which the SAVE America Act puts Democrats on the wrong side of that 80-20 line, including this:
Today I want to talk about another couple of common-sense policies in this bill. In this case, not about protecting our elections, but about protecting our youth. Mr. President, in recent years, we have seen men, biological men, who identify as women, take up spaces in athletics meant for actual women and girls. And this is happening along a range of sports.
While some Democrats have indicated some squishy support, at least, for the notion of requiring an ID to actually cast a ballot, Senator Jon Husted (R-OH) has put the lie to that.
Just a week ago, @SenSchumer claimed Democrats supported voter ID.@SenJonHusted took them up on their offer, and gave Democrats a chance to make voter ID the law of land.

Watch the proceedings Saturday afternoon; it's a very revealing look at how the sausage factory works. Case in point: There was a procedural vote on referring an arcane measure intended to see that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) be discussed by the Committee on Rules and Administration, meaning that the TSA employees will likely have to wait a while longer for their paychecks. After some argument, mostly by the vulturine Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer (D-NY), it went to a vote.
It seems a long, long attention span is required to stay abreast of Senate proceedings.

We Need to Pass the SAVE America Act to Save America’s Elections From Fraud
The fight over the SAVE America Act continues, and probably will do so into next week. Meanwhile, the sausage mill continues to crank. Stay tuned. We'll bring you updates as things develop.
Editor's Note: The Democrats are doing everything in their power to undermine the integrity of our elections.
