Shock: Kids Can Now Buy Cross-Sex Hormones Online in Minutes

It's not at all clear to those of us who live in the sane world why anyone would think it's a good idea to give cross-sex hormones and other "gender-affirming" treatments to kids who are legally prohibited from signing a contract, drinking a beer, or getting a tattoo. The Trump administration has taken steps to end this damaging practice, and even major medical organizations are admitting this is a bad idea. These treatments can be harmful, they can have irreversible effects, they can sterilize a young person, and even prevent them from having any semblance of a normal sex life.

As the medical community and government regulations are slowly bringing this to a halt, enter the frauds and scammers, who are finding ways to make these substances available online, and there is nothing good that can come of this.

A new report from Do No Harm reveals that American children may be able to buy harmful cross-sex hormones from online pharmacies – including foreign-based ones – without prescriptions, with Do No Harm calling on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to take action.

The problem is that a lot of these online pharmacies are overseas, and there are a million and one ways to move these substances into the United States; it will be difficult to slam every door.

Chief Medical Officer at Do No Harm Dr. Kurt Miceli told The Center Square that the report “reveals how online pharmacies may enable minors to obtain cross-sex hormones with alarming ease.”

Miceli said told The Center Square that “gender-confused kids should not be able to purchase potent, experimental medications with just a few simple clicks.”

“From websites listing online vendors across the globe to marketplaces for ‘homebrewed’ hormones, we found a multitude of troubling pathways that appear to bypass basic safeguards and regulatory oversight,” Miceli said.

“These hormones carry significant risks, including effects that can be irreversible,” Miceli said.

Yes, this is something the FDA should work to address. But this is going to look a lot like a global game of Whack-a-Mole.

Why is this going to be difficult? Well, here's why, and I'm going to tell you: There's a lot of money in this stuff. That's inarguably a big part of the reason the whole "gender-affirming" industry sprang up in the first place; unscrupulous healthcare providers were handed a bunch of patients who required expensive medications, expensive procedures, and endless follow-up care; it's like printing money. The same applies to these shady online pharmacies, with the added risk of little or no quality control over how/when/where these pharmaceuticals are produced.

It's a safe bet that few, if any, of these manufacturers are conversant with, much less adhering to, 21 CFR Parts 210 and 211. It's only a matter of time before some young people are seriously hurt or, fates forefend, killed by these illegitimate online drug dealers.

All of this, again, is due to a social contagion. There is a real mental illness, gender dysphoria, that is behind all this, but the current situation has gone far beyond the actual syndrome. It's become a fad, something that is "cool" among some of the susceptible, weak-willed population. That's the part that must be dealt with, or these online pharmacies will just keep shifting, moving, adapting, opening new facilities and new websites when the old ones are shut down - and people are going to be hurt.
