One of my fonder memories of the time I was deployed to Germany in support of President Clinton's Balkans fracas was the Heidelberg Christmas market. We went to Nuremberg as well and saw the bigger, more impressive Christmas market in that historic city, but as I was staying in Heidelberg, I saw a lot more of that town's events. Fascinating time; all the local shops, all manner of Christmas stuff, usually punctuated by a visit to one of my favorite dining establishments on the banks of the Neckar River for a big plate of schnitzel, some pommes-frites, and a couple of local pilseners.
Of course, back then, in 1996, one could attend one of these wonderful celebrations without worrying about some imported nutcase driving a car through the venue. These days? Not so much.
After decades of reckless mass migration policies, the threat of Islamist terrorism means Christmas festivities in Europe aren’t quite as cheery as they used to be. In the Spectator, friend of the Daily Sceptic Clarissa Hard surveys the grim, deadly attacks in recent years and the official responses to them, concluding that “something has gone terribly wrong”. Here’s an extract:
Public celebrations of Christmas suddenly required anti-terrorism measures in Europe. Moreover, the threat was coming from within.
Left to fester, the danger has only grown. Over the past three years, the costs in Germany for public events have risen on average by about 44 per cent – a surge driven by sharply increased security requirements. Now many of the markets resemble fortified zones, and unaffordable security costs have led to some cancellations. France has also thrown money at security and cancelled its traditional New Year’s Eve celebrations due to a ‘very high’ threat of terror. Tellingly, the threat is significantly lower in the more eastern European countries such as Hungary and Poland.
That's because Hungary and Poland haven't thrown open their national doors to unchecked mass "migration" of people from North Africa and the Middle East - let's say it out loud, the unchecked mass migration of people from the Muslim world.

To Germany, to Britain, to all the countries of Europe who are now having to fortify public displays of Christmas cheer lest some nutcase try to, you know, kill everybody there, I can only say this: You let these people in. What did you think was going to happen?
Look at what the United Kingdom's city of Birmingham is having to do - and making light of it, as though it's no big deal.
Big changes for Birmingham city centre! 🚧

We’ve installed hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) bollards and upgraded CCTV at strategic locations to keep everyone safe in the city centre.

Notice the fuzzy use of written English: "Hostile vehicles." A vehicle can't be hostile. It's just a vehicle. An inanimate construct. Only the driver can be hostile, and, fever dreams of the international left notwithstanding, the people who are making this necessary aren't white, blue-eyed, Aryan neo-Nazis. They are Muslims, part of the huge influx from majority-Muslim nations to the various nations of Europe - well, except for Poland and Hungary, which don't seem to need to install bollards everywhere to fend off "hostile vehicles."
This problem is made worse by the refusal of the governments of these nations to even admit what the problem is. They keep letting the problem in, they enable the problem, they encourage the problem, and they will lose their culture, and some of them will lose their lives to the problem.
Enjoy the 2025 Christmas season, Europe. You may not have too many left.
