On Wednesday evening, in Queens, New York, ten people were injured in a shooting attack outside a nightclub. The injured were among a group of people awaiting access to a private event in the Amazura Night Club when four as-yet-unidentifed men approached and opened fire.
About 15 people were standing outside Amazura Concert Hall at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday in Jamaica, Queens, when four men on foot approached the group of 16- to 20-year-olds. Three or four men opened fire on the group, New York Police Department Chief of Patrol Philip Rivera said during an early Thursday news conference.
About 30 shots were fired before the gunmen fled on foot. They were then seen getting into a sedan with out-of-state plates.
There is “zero tolerance for these senseless shootings,” Rivera said.
Six females and four males were taken to hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening, he said.
It's probably a horrendous statement on the times we live in to note that this, unlike the recent terrorist attack in New Orleans and the explosion in Las Vegas, appears on the surface to be a more "normal" crime.

There is as yet no known motive for the nightclub attack.
A massive police presence and several ambulances were seen outside Amazura in footage posted on social media.
The motive was not immediately known, but Rivera said: “This is not terrorism.”
Amazura Concert Hall urged the public to contact police with any information about the shooting.
An X user, Nick Sortor, was among the first to note the event, including some video of emergency vehicles at the scene, taken by an unnamed but presumably (judging from the voice) female observer:

Sadly, at least one report notes the private event was a celebration of life for a 16-year-old who was killed in another shooting incident.
According to investigators, police got multiple 911 calls shortly after 11 p.m. for a shooting at the club. Roughly 90 people were inside, upstairs at a private venue, celebrating the life of a 16-year-old who was shot to death. The venue was at capacity, and about 15 were waiting to get in.
This is a developing situation. We will continue to monitor and bring you updates as events warrant.
