The Chinese Communist Party is incapable of understanding the concept of shame.

As evidence accumulates around the world that the COVID-19 virus, responsible for millions of deaths, escaped — maybe purposely — from the Wuhan Virology Institute, the state-controlled Chinese Academy of Sciences is conferring its highest national award on the lab and its COVID-19 specialists.

The Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), has been listed as one of the candidates for the 2021 Outstanding Science and Technology Achievement Prize of CAS for its achievement in identifying the COVID-19 pathogeny.

China’s “bat woman” Shi Zhengli, and Yuan Zhiming, director of the WIV’s Wuhan National Biosafety Laboratory were selected as the outstanding contributors of the WIV group candidates.

That is according to the Global Times, a daily tabloid newspaper under the auspices of the Chinese Communist Party’s flagship People’s Daily newspaper, commenting on international issues from a nationalistic perspective.

CAS said the WIV quickly carried out pathogen identification after the outbreak of COVID-19, completed the entire virus genome sequencing and virus isolation within a short time, confirmed that the COVID-19 virus shares the same functional receptor as the SARS virus, systematically analyzed the basic biological characteristics of the virus, and revealed that coronavirus carried by bats may be the evolutionary ancestor of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

It seems to me that all that work might be made a bit easier if — just spit-balling here — you happened to, you know, create the new virus in your lab before it “escaped” into the environment and killed millions of people.

It sort of seems to gives you a head start on the whole “identification” angle if you already knew what it looked like before anyone else ever saw it for the first time.

In addition, the initial genome sequencing provided to the world by Wuhan scientists was incomplete, omitting a double CGG amino acid sequence commonly used by virologists as a “beacon” to signal bioengineering.

About that Nobel Prize:

China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson stressed at Thursday’s press conference that scientists working at the WIV should be awarded the Nobel Prize in medicine, rather than being blamed for being the first to discover the gene sequence of the novel coronavirus. The comments came after Shi refuted the “lab-leak” conspiracy from the US in a recent interview with the New York Times.

Now, that IS the Chinese Government pimping for the operators of one of their bioweapons labs to get the Nobel Prize for medicine. I think that’s what one might call “chutzpah.”

1. Louis Pasteur, founder of the Pasteur Institute and the “father” of modern microbiology.
2. Luc Montagnier, discoverer of the HIV virus (but don’t say that in earshot of Dr. Robert Gallo of the NIH).
3. Bat Lady — killer of millions with her mutated bioweapon virus.

They do worship Mao Tse-Tung, the killer of millions of his own people, so I guess they are not inconsistent.

One sad fact at play here is that someone from some country WILL nominate the bioweapons lab scientist for the award.

Given the calendar for how nominations and awards decisions are made, it’s possible that the Wuhan lab scientists were nominated by someone before the evidence began to accumulate that the COVID-19 virus is an artificial lab creation. Nominations were due back in February, and the evaluation report preparation period was from March to May. The current status of the award selection process is that nomination reports have been sent to international reputable experts to evaluate prior to the Award Committee making its recommendations to the Nobel Assembly in September.

The timing of the CCP’s advocacy on behalf of their bioweapon designers might be driven by feedback received in China that the bioweapon designers have fallen out of consideration due to questions (not really anymore) about the origins of the virus, and may have something to do with the reported defection of Dong Jingwei, who is said to have data showing that the virus was engineered.

Hopefully, Sweden isn’t too far in debt to China under the Belt and Road Initiative.  China might demand the Nobel as the first installment payment.
