Shameless Knicks Fan Caught Trashing NYC Sidewalk and Stealing Bin Gets to the 'Find Out' Part

The most embarrassing thing to come from the New York Knicks' championship run wasn't House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) looking absurd while wearing a most unbecoming pink Knicks hat (the secondhand embarrassment was real). Nor was it the side-eye looks being thrown New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani's way by Knicks players and staff as he tried to politicize their celebratory parade (who does that?).

No, the most embarrassing thing has to be the woman – bedecked in Knicks gear while sporting dreadlocks and a supremely entitled attitude – who was caught on video emptying an overflowing garbage can all over a city street and carrying the Knicks-themed bin away as her own personal souvenir.

She's so proud of herself. Despite the dismay voiced by those around her watching the spectacle, she exhibited no shame and proceeded as if she – and she alone – had every right to trash the sidewalk and steal city property. Amazing stuff.

While New York City feted their heroes and enjoyed their long-awaited championship, the woman was seen carting home her prize on the subway while wearing a big grin.

Not a bit of shame or remorse to be seen on her face. As if the stealing wasn't bad enough, she left a disgusting mess for the city rats to feast on and some poor public works employee to clean up. That was some pretty trashy behavior on her part.

The woman seen trashing her city and stealing its property was later identified as Angie Báez, aged 40. Báez was a director at JPMorgan Chase – and that's "was" because she was reportedly fired on Tuesday after her employer saw what thousands of social media users had already seen after the video of her shameful act went viral. You could say she was "canned."

A woman caught on video emptying a public trash can on the street, then stealing it during New York City’s Knicks championship parade, was a director at JPMorgan Chase — who was fired Tuesday over the incident, The Post has learned.

Angie Báez, 40, was promoted to executive director of community and industry engagement for card and connected commerce at JPMorgan Chase more than a year ago, according to her LinkedIn profile.

This next bit won't surprise you one bit.

Per the New York Post, Angie Báez previously worked as "executive director of diversity, equity, and inclusion at New York-based review website the Infatuation, which Chase acquired as part of its broader push into lifestyle and experiential content." That's right, our garbage girl was paid to be a purveyor of DEI, and, well, that tracks perfectly.

In a bio on the Infatuation’s website, Báez is described as someone whose “dedication to making a positive impact shines through in every aspect of her work.” The publication adds that “Angie’s efforts have helped position [the Infatuation] as a trailblazer in the pursuit of a more equitable and relatable food media industry,” calling her one of the “brightest voices” in the space.

“As a vibrant mosaic of Dominican heritage, Bronx roots, and a passion for storytelling, creativity, and culture, Angie continues to lead the way towards a more inclusive and equitable future for food media, leaving an indelible mark on the Infatuation and everything she touches,” the bio states.

"[L]eaving an indelible mark on ... everything she touches." You can't make it up.

And, you guessed it, Báez apparently co-founded a "queer and black, indigenous and people of color-owned talent agency" that is “focused on increasing representation and equity in media and industry. It works with artists/talent on creative projects, photoshoots, strategy, and business affairs.”

This woman has made a career out of creating oppression that doesn't exist in order to excuse her bad behavior, which very obviously does exist. A 40-year-old woman should not be acting like this, and she certainly shouldn't be proud about what she's done. Although Báez could not be reached for comment after word of her firing was confirmed, you can be sure that she thinks she's the victim in this scenario.
