Let's Go, Brandon: US Embassy in Yemen Invaded by a Group Biden Removed From Terror List and Hostages Are Taken

One of the hilarious things circulating on Twitter over Veterans Day was this from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s ferocious communications director, Christina Pushaw.

If we had a press that was anything other than the propaganda arm of the Democrat party, I might be open to feigning serious discussion of that premise before laughing in your face. But it isn’t, and so I won’t.

What do I mean? Go back in time before January 20, 2021, when America had a real president, and imagine the media coverage of this scenario. President Trump removes a violent insurgency from the list of terrorist groups. That group then attacks a US embassy, overruns it, and takes hostages in the process. What do you think the reaction would be? I’m guessing that Mitt Romney and Liz Cheney would still be holding hearings on the event.

When this scenario plays out under Joey SoftServe and his merry band of cretins, you get crickets.

When President Trump was in the White House, we were assisting the legitimate government of Yemen and their Saudi allies in putting down the Iranian-backed, Iranian-supplied Houthi militia. Under Iran’s aegis, the Houthi branched out from their civil war in Yemen and started attacking civilian targets inside Saudi Arabia. For instance, see BREAKING. Joe Biden came into office with a different agenda from President Trump. He didn’t care about American interests abroad, he was beholden to a globalist clique who wanted to drag America into the Green New Deal and other climate change buffoonery and to go back to the Obama Administration plan to give Iran suzerainty in the Persian Gulf region, read Joe Biden’s Iran Policy Is Focused on Returning the Power, Prestige, and Nuclear Weapons Iran Has Lost Since 2016. One of the first steps in that was removing the Houthi militia from the list of terrorist organizations.

Because of the security situation in Yemen, US diplomatic personnel assigned to our embassy there have been physically located in Saudi Arabia since 2015. However, the US retains an embassy compound manned by local nationals as a security force.

The U.S. is working to free Yemeni security personnel taken hostage after Iran-backed Houthi rebels stormed the U.S. Embassy compound in Yemen’s capital San’a, U.S. officials said.

The U.S. diplomatic mission in San’a has been suspended since 2015, when Houthi rebels took control of the city. Since then, U.S. Embassy personnel have worked on Yemeni affairs from Saudi Arabia, which backs the government ousted by the insurgents.

Houthi rebels stormed the embassy compound in San’a on Wednesday and took U.S.-employed security personnel hostage. Most of the personnel have been freed, according to a State Department spokesman, who said the U.S. was making unceasing diplomatic efforts to release the rest.

“The majority of those who have been detained are no longer in custody,” State Department spokesman Ned Price said earlier this week.

Ned Price, you’ll recall, is the guy who couldn’t tell us how many US civilians were left behind in Afghanistan when Biden bugged out of there. As far as I can tell, the White House hasn’t even acknowledged that the event took place. The best Congress seemed to be able to do was make a statement expressing mild annoyance. Shamefully, some Republicans have signed onto this travesty.

“Breaching the sovereign territory of a foreign embassy and threatening and detaining its staff clearly demonstrate the Houthis have no interest in peace, nor in making the changes necessary to become legitimate members of the international community,” Sens. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) and Jim Risch (R-Idaho), who lead the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Reps. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) and Michael McCaul (R-Tex.), who lead the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said in a statement.

Unreal.

Indeed. Keep in mind that Osama bin Laden decided to attack New York not because he thought America was objectively weak, but because he thought we were gutless and spineless. The physical facility in Sana’a matters little, but the imagery of a drooling, semi-literate mob taking that facility and holding US employees hostage will resonate everywhere we are already thought weak because of the craven manner of our exit from Afghanistan. The Houthi were just being used as the proverbial canary-in-the-coal-mine to gauge American reaction. By doing nothing, we’ve simply encouraged subsequent adventures on an ever-larger scale. And I don’t mean adventures by the Houthis. I mean actions from the ChiComs, North Korea, Syria, and any of our adversaries. They are all watching, and they all see the same thing.

What is at least as significant is that the regime media outlets have done very little in the way of coverage. As I said in my opening, can you imagine this happening under President Trump and nothing being said by the press or no reaction from the White House? Brian Stelter would have been imitating Jeffrey Toobin had this happened under President Trump. I would submit they aren’t covering this for two central reasons. First, they know that Biden’s approval rating is hovering around 40 percent, and that the Republicans are showing a historic lead in the generic ballot. If they give this episode any attention, it will drive more people away from Biden and the Democrats. Second, they are generally in favor of the Iran nuclear deal. Iran having nuclear weapons as a deterrent to Israel and spending a lot of time highlighting Iranian proxies taking over a US embassy would not help that cause.

Between a feckless bunch of usurpers in the White House and their willing lackeys in the press, the Republic has never been in danger this great since 1861. I wish I were confident about how this will end, but I’m not.
