Red-Hot at RedState
Many qualified Americans, men and women with integrity and actual qualifications, were passed over to fulfill these dimwits' racial justice fantasies. That is the greater crime.
Brilliant! CNN Photobombed in Memphis Live Shot, Forcing Reporter to Destroy Dem Crime Narrative
As the reporter was talking about Trump's move, a person showed up carrying a large sign that read "Democrats Destroyed Memphis" on one side. On the other side of the sign, it read,
"Thank you, President Trump."

In the meantime, however, Mika’s unbelievable performance will live on in the minds of dramatists the world over and will be studied by thespians everywhere for her masterful use of crossed arms, rolling eyes, and general look of having just smelled something horrid.

Hamas: We Kinda-Sorta Agree to Trump's Plan, Except for Two Key Points
At any rate, Trump's deadlines mean something. If Hamas doesn't accept the plan by the weekend, the IDF will almost certainly unleash hell on Gaza City, dislodging Hamas one way or the other.
This One Photo Captures the Schumer Shutdown Perfectly
The radical left wanted a shutdown, but all they’ve managed to do is expose themselves as reckless and disorganized, while Trump sits in the driver’s seat, steering the outcome to their political detriment.
Trump White House Finally Responds to Hakeem Jeffries' Whining About the Sombrero Posts. It's Gold.
The Trump White House’s response is not to make more posts, but they’re now running them on a loop inside the White House Briefing Room.
I do not want this shutdown to end.
D'OH! It doesn't sound like many people were interested in watching Jeffries try to blame the Schumer shutdown on Trump and the Republicans.
WHAT'S ON TAP?
Today on Capitol Hill...
It's Day 2 of the Schumer Shutdown. It's also Yom Kippur, so there will be no Senate votes today in observance of the holiday, but they will be back on Friday to vote again on the proposed continuing resolution. (Wednesday's vote, like Tuesday evening's, failed to meet the requisite 60-vote threshold.)
For now, we keep calm and carry on.
White House What's Up
Thursday looks to be a quieter day for President Donald Trump, though he's set to receive his intelligence briefing late morning.

Keeping Up With the Cabinet
Sec. Veterans Affairs - Doug Collins — Collins joined Fox News Wednesday morning to discuss the impact of the shutdown on veterans:
.@SecVetAffairs: "For veterans watching this morning, your healthcare is there. Hospitals are open, our clinics are open, your disability benefits are going to be processed—but because of what the Democrats are doing, they're going to put long-term risk of making things slower… pic.twitter.com/TrLtzMTxdz

Full Court Press...
The Supreme Court finally made a move Wednesday on the Lisa Cook case (regarding removal from her position as Federal Reserve Board governor) — in essence, they punted, deferring ruling on the Trump administration's application for stay until after oral argument in January.

The courts were busy yesterday, fielding motions to stay proceedings in many of the cases involving the Trump administration due to the shutdown/lapse in appropriations. In most instances, the courts granted the motions for stay.

- ↔️ Cook v. Trump (removal of independent agency leaders) — SCOTUS issues order deferring admin's application for stay pending oral argument in Jan. 2026.
- ✅ Fairfax County School Board v. McMahon (challenging "high risk" status of funds over Title IX violations) — 4th Circuit Court of Appeals DENIES plaintiffs' motion for stay pending appeal.
- ✅ Arlington School Board v. McMahon (challenging "high risk" status of funds over Title IX violations) — 4th Circuit Court of Appeals DENIES plaintiffs' motion for stay pending appeal.
- ❌ AFL-CIO v. Trump (rescission of collective bargaining), Judge Paul Friedman GRANTS plaintiffs' motion for preliminary injunction.
- ↔️ State of NY v. McMahon (dismantling/restructuring ED), Judge Myong Joun (Massachusetts) GRANTS motion to stay (due to shutdown) and GRANTS consent motion to vacate preliminary injunctions (in light of SCOTUS stay)
Also, on Tuesday, Judge Arun Subramanian denied Sean Combs' motion for acquittal and motion for new trial. Combs is set to be sentenced on Friday for his convictions on Mann Act violations.
COMING ATTRACTIONS
As noted above, the Senate will vote again on Friday on the proposed CR to fund the government through November 21.
That "three or four days" President Trump gave Hamas to decide whether or not to accept the peace proposal laid out on Monday is nearing its end. Is Hamas?
MORNING MUSING
"Amazing Grace" was my father's favorite hymn. There's never a time I hear it (or even hear the title) and don't think of him and miss him fiercely. But it's also one of the most beautiful aspects of Christianity. And as ugly as the past few weeks have been, I am heartened as I see it in action repeatedly, even in the face of great evil.
We have Erika Kirk's forgiveness of the man accused of assassinating her husband, Charlie. We have members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints raising funds for the family of the man who attacked the church in Grand Blanc, Michigan, this past Sunday.

Over and over, we're seeing people lean into their faith and exemplify it by showing — and sharing — amazing grace. God is good.
