NEW (Updated): Shots Ring Out at KC Super Bowl Victory Parade, 22 People Struck, 1 Confirmed Dead

Update - 6:28 pm Eastern - Officials said during a news conference that there were 22 gunshot victims; they confirmed one fatality; 8 of the injuries were immediately life-threatening; 7 injuries were life-threatening; 6 non-serious. Of those injured, 11 were children, nine of them with gunshot wounds. They also confirmed that three persons have been detained.

The Kansas City Chiefs also released a statement, according to the AP report (linked above):

The Kansas City Chiefs said all their players, coaches and staffers and their families “are safe and accounted for” after a deadly shooting occurred Wednesday at the end of the Super Bowl championship parade.

"We are truly saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred outside of Union Station at the conclusion of today’s parade and rally,” the Chiefs said in a statement. “Our hearts go out to the victims, their families and all of Kansas City.”

Update - 4:50 pm Eastern - Officials have now confirmed that one person injured in the incident is deceased. During a press conference, Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves indicated that upwards of 10 to 15 people were shot and confirmed that one person has died. 

Kansas City officials confirm at least one person has died Wednesday after a shooting near the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl rally at Union Station, officials say.

At the conclusion of the rally, there were shots fired west of Union Station near the garage and several people were struck, a KCPD spokesperson said.

Update - 4:25 pm Eastern - Officials indicate eight to 10 people were injured in the incident. Their conditions are unknown at present. Additional updates will be provided as they become available. 

Fire Department Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins said eight to 10 people were injured but declined further comment, saying only that additional information will be released soon.

It's a warm, sunny day in Kansas City, Missouri — the perfect day to celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl win on Sunday with a victory parade. Unfortunately, there are reports now of a shooting in the area near Union Station, with multiple people hit.

Police are investigating a reported shooting at the victory rally for the Kansas City Chiefs at Union Station.

The Kansas City Fire Department confirmed a shooting happened and is calling it a "fluid situation."

Kansas City poliec say shots were fired west of Union Station and "several people" were struck.

Two armed people have been detained.

Per local reporting, people were initially instructed to shelter in place, but are now being asked to clear the area.
