Nancy Guthrie has now been missing for 18 days, having last been seen by her son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni (husband of Nancy's daughter, Annie), who Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said dropped the 84-year-old grandmother off "safely" at her Catalina Foothills, Arizona home on the evening of January 31, around 9:45 pm local time.
There has been a desperate search for her ever since she was reported missing by her family the next day, with both the Pima County Sheriff's Office and the FBI taking active roles in trying to find out what happened, who has her, and, most importantly, to hopefully return her home safe and sound.
As RedState reported at the time, early on in the investigation, there were ransom notes that were received. While Nanos said every ransom note was being taken "seriously," some were conclusively determined to be hoaxes, and one arrest was made in one of the instances.
But while we haven't heard much about the purported ransom notes over the last week or so, a new development that centers around Google searches involving Nancy Guthries' address and the salary of her other daughter, NBC "Today Show" co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, could potentially lend credence to at least one theory about the validity of some of those notes:
As the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and FBI continue work on the case, Fox News Digital has learned that mysterious Google searches for Nancy’s address and Savannah’s salary occurred before her disappearance.
Google Trends records show there was activity for Guthrie’s address in the Catalina Foothills between June 21 and 28, 2025, originating in Arizona. The address saw activity again once on Jan. 11, 2026.
The Jan. 11 date also surfaced in a message on the Ring camera app posted on Feb. 12, asking neighbors to share video from between 9 p.m. and midnight that day, as well as on the evening of Jan. 31, when Guthrie was last accounted for.
A PCSD captain replied to the post asking users to look for verified posts from the department when submitting tips. Officially, investigators are seeking home security video recorded within two miles of Guthrie’s home between Jan. 1 and Feb. 2.
The dates that Savannah Guthries' salary was searched were "between Dec. 13 and 20, 2025," according to Fox News.
Could be nothing. May be something. Will be interesting to see how deeply a digital forensics team can dig into that information.
In related news, we've learned this week that the FBI has been in contact with Mexico pretty much throughout the entire investigation, which reportedly is "standard" in cases like this one:
The guidance I got on the FBI talking with Mexico in relation to Nancy Guthrie is that it's standard for the FBI to communicate with Mexico on cases like this and that the FBI has likely been in touch with Mexican counterparts for a while if not from the start of the FBI's…

I have been told by several in local law enforcement Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance does not show any signs of cartel involvement.

But that doesn’t mean whoever did this didn’t take her to Mexico. https://t.co/h3TXRGKUbl
The DNA on the glove that was found roughly two miles from Nancy Guthries' home, and which investigators say looked like the gloves seen in the video they released of the potential suspect last Tuesday, did not yield a match in the FBI database. So they're switching to Plan B:
As suspected - they will use investigative genetic genealogy in Nancy Guthrie investigation.

This is what helped catch Kohberger. https://t.co/TOvYIba4xC
The glove's DNA also did not match the DNA found in the home.
Nanos has also shared that there are other videos from the home that they are hoping to retrieve, but that they are Google Nest videos, and they have to wait on Google to try and retrieve them since Mrs. Guthrie did not have an "active subscription."
“We don’t think we can get anything, but we’ll try," he told reporters.
The reward in the case has been upped to $202,500.
Anyone with information on the Nancy Guthrie case is urged to contact the sheriff's office tip line at 520-351-4900 or 1-800-CALL-FBI. They can also report tips to http://tips.fbi.gov.
