On any given day, the cray cray is particularly strong on the set of ABC's "The View" program, as we've often documented.

But on the Thursday edition, it got a little "extra" on set when two of the far-left co-hosts started floating a bizarre conspiracy theory, and hinting they'd be okay with the implications from it if it played out because they want President-Elect Donald Trump gone - as in that kind of "gone."

According to Whoopi Goldberg, the theory involves Vice President-Elect JD Vance and Dept. of Government Efficiency (DOGE) co-leader Elon Musk allegedly plotting and scheming to get rid of Trump, possibly by extraordinarily nefarious means.

Here is how the segment between Goldberg and her fellow co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar went down (transcribed from video):

Goldberg: Who is in charge? Because I've been saying it for a while. I've been saying that I think Elon Musk believes he's president. I do.

Behar: Well, you've called him vice president.

Goldberg: I’ve called him vice president. I’ve called him president 'cause I don't know what JD is doing. I hardly ever see - I don't remember [the] last time we even talked about JD.

Hostin: You’re right.

Behar: He’s planning the presidency when they get rid of Trump.

Goldberg: So you think it's Musk - Musk/Vance?

Behar: Possible.

Goldberg: Mmmhmm. Hey, you-know-who, stay away from the stairways. Because, you know, people put their leg out to trip you going down the stairs. Watch out. 

It's not just what they said but how they looked when talking about it that raised some eyebrows.

Apparently, something was said during the commercial break because when they returned, Goldberg furiously backtracked and clarified that they were not in fact gleeful at the prospect of Vance and/or Musk sticking a leg out to trip Trump as he tried to go down the stairs.

And seemingly frustrated with having to explain what she said, Goldberg told the audience that there was "no way" you could not "step in poo" with statements made on the show. Hostin, who has had to read legal statements on several occasions after making unsubstantiated claims about certain Republicans, reiterated later that Goldberg "did not mean that anyone should hurt the president."

You know, it's kinda fascinating to me to watch that conversation play out, especially when you consider that Kamala Harris was waiting in the wings for four years and watching in purposeful silence as Joe Biden steadily declined to the point he was forced out of the presidential race, and where she was installed in the aftermath, becoming the Democrat nominee though she never participated in a single primary either time she was a presidential candidate.

If these ladies really wanted to talk about something that was far closer to an actual attempted coup, they could have started there. But they didn't, because not only did Biden and Harris get passes because they had the magical "D" by their names but the co-hosts of The View themselves were heavily involved in perpetuating the lie about everything being fine with Joe Biden even though it very clearly was not. 

Case in point, this May back and forth between Behar and Handler in Chief Jill Biden, which was roughly a month before the disastrous debate that led to Biden withdrawing from the race:

So weird how there were never any questions on "The View" for the four years Biden was president along the lines of "Who's in charge?" considering Biden had to constantly be led around by the First Lady, world leaders, and his White House minders including the danged Easter Bunny. Not to mention the fact that he was frequently forgetting things including the deaths of members of Congress, and was often seen wandering off of stages and looking lost and out of it.

And yet now, though Musk and Vance are doing exactly what Trump wants them to do one month out from his inauguration, they ask "Who's in charge?"

And the especially funny thing about it is that Trump isn't even president yet.  We've got about four weeks of the Biden-Harris administration left to go. The better question Whoopi and Sunny should be asking is "Where's Joe?" But that would bust up so many of their false narratives, so of course they won't.
