'No Right': Dave McCormick Has Reality Check for Kamala Harris Over Pivot on Secret Service Question

Republican Senate nominee Dave McCormick continues to run an impressive campaign against Democrat Sen. Bob Casey in the critically important battleground state of Pennsylvania, where polls show Casey ahead but with McCormick close enough to give him nightmares and worries about an "onslaught" of attack ads with less than two months to go before Election Day.

Though Montana Sen. Jon Tester is in big trouble against GOP nominee Tim Sheehy and West Virginia may be about to flip red thanks to Gov. Jim Justice's candidacy and Sen. Joe Manchin's retirement, Pennsylvania would nevertheless be a fine feather in the Senate GOP's cap, which is why McCormick has kept his foot on the gas, hammering Casey for rubber stamping the Biden-Harris agenda on issues like the border crisis, energy policy, and crime.

It is with that in mind we turn to comments Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris made during what was generously described as an "interview" with the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) on Tuesday.

As RedState's Jennifer Oliver O'Connell reported, among the questions asked was one about whether or not Harris had "full confidence" in the Secret Service's ability to protect her after the two failed assassination attempts against her general election opponent, GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.

After saying "I do," Harris bizarrely pivoted, making her answer about the safety and security of people in states like Ohio and elsewhere:

"I do, but, I mean, you can go back to Ohio,” Harris answered. “Not everybody has Secret Service, and there are far too many people in our country right now who are not feeling safe.”

There were, of course, a lot of problems with that answer, and McCormick was more than happy to point out what they were in a segment he did on Fox and Friends Wednesday:

"That was a headscratcher because President Trump's not safe. I mean I was there in Butler when he was shot. What happened a couple of days ago seems unthinkable to me, that the Secret Service could have failed so miserably a second time. And then when she talks about security, I mean, the economic security and the physical security of Americans under President Biden and Vice President Harris has been terrible.

Ten million illegal immigrants, violent crime in our cities - in Philadelphia, one of the most dangerous cities in the world, the fentanyl crisis that's spiraling out of control, the economic insecurity that comes with compounding inflation more than 20 percent which is really, really killing working families.

So if you want to talk about security, the security of Americans and Pennsylvanians under this administration has been very bad, and I think that's why 80 percent of Pennsylvanians think the country's headed in the wrong direction."

Watch:

Two debates have been agreed to by both nominees (to take place in October), with a third being negotiated. It goes without saying to keep this race (and the debates) on your must-watch list, because the road to Republicans having a little cushion in the United States Senate (should Sheehy and Justice win) could very well run through Pennsylvania.
