Something Curious Is Noted About Hunter Biden’s Arrival to Delaware Courthouse

As RedState reported earlier, Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden arrived at a Delaware courthouse Wednesday morning alongside his “bong-ripping” lawyer, Kevin Morris, for a hearing on what originally was supposed to be an acceptance of a sweetheart plea deal on tax evasion charges and a firearm offense.

In a shocking update to that story, however, it appears the plea deal is off.

But in the midst of that breaking development, something curious was pointed out about Hunter Biden’s trip to the courthouse, specifically, the very large motorcade that surrounded him:

Questions were immediately raised.

“Why does he have a motorcade?” wondered Spectator contributing editor Stephen L. Miller.

“I was under the impression from the news media and the White House that Hunter Biden is a private citizen. And private citizens don’t have motorcades the size of elected officials!” Newsbusters’ managing editor Curtis Houck also observed.

Another Twitter user, Cruadin, just put it all out there:

Remember, Hunter Biden is a “private citizen” … who keeps appointments in a six-car, taxpayer-funded motorcade, and his criminal enterprise has nothing to do with his corrupt father whose name he used to extort shakedown payments from foreign oligarchs.

Indeed, we’ve repeatedly been told that Hunter Biden is a “private citizen” who is free to pursue an art career, foreign business dealings, the sky’s the limit, etc. But when it comes to his transportation for what arguably was one of the most important appointments in his life, he’s surrounded by Secret Service protection.

In fairness, the children of both the President and the Vice President are allowed Secret Service protection:

By law, the Secret Service is authorized to protect:

-The president, the vice president, (or other individuals next in order of succession to the Office of the President), the president-elect and vice president-elect
-The immediate families of the above individuals
-Former presidents, their spouses, except when the spouse re-marries
-Children of former presidents until age 16
-Visiting heads of foreign states or governments and their spouses traveling with them, other distinguished foreign visitors to the United States, and official representatives of the United States performing special missions abroad
-Major presidential and vice presidential candidates, and their spouses within 120 days of a general presidential election
-Other individuals as designated per Executive Order of the President and
-National Special Security Events, when designated as such by the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security

The Secret Service’s FAQ sort of proves the point, though. In other words, the children of presidents and vice presidents of this country can hardly be considered “private citizens” no matter how often Biden’s sycophants in the White House and out of it may claim. And while minor children of these officials have generally been considered off-limits by both the press and critics, adult children are certainly fair game for scrutiny, especially when they rise to the level of what Hunter Biden is alleged to have done.
