Watch: Fur Flies on 'The View' After Sunny Hostin Goes ‘Mean Girl’ on Alyssa Farah Griffin

As I’ve said before, watching the cast of characters on ABC’s “The View” program is a lot like witnessing a dumpster fire take place except in human form, with everyone involved being willing participants in the carnage provided the checks don’t bounce and the hair and make-up department continues to perform miracles.

It’s what the rabid pits of the Democratic fever swamps actually look like on any given day, and Wednesday was no exception, especially once the topic turned to the ever-growing 2024 GOP presidential field and the issues each co-host took with the candidates.

But to say things got tense between Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin would be a gross understatement, as their heated sparring and the other co-hosts daring to chide Hostin led to Whoopi Goldberg once again running to Hostin’s rescue by calling for a commercial break.

It started after Hostin concluded a rant on Chris Christie, who she – surprise surprise – does not like. Then the subject turned to former Vice President Mike Pence’s entry into the race.

As RedState readers will recall, Griffin was Pence’s press secretary from 2017 to 2019 and was then-President Trump’s comms director from April 2020 to December 2020. While her co-hosts have taken swipes from time to time over her work in the Trump-Pence administration, Hostin has made things “personal” with Griffin, questioning her over her unwillingness to take a stand on Pence, who Hostin also hates, one way or the other, especially on the issue of how he supposedly enabled the so-called excesses of Trump.

Transcribing what went down between the two and the attempted intervention of the other co-hosts during the awkward exchange was a challenge considering it was hard to hear who was saying what at the time, with all the talking over each other, but here’s a preview:

Hostin: But what scares me, Alyssa, is that you are incapable of defending a man that you worked for, that you know of.

Griffin: I am – Oh, no, no. Why don’t you ask me a question rather than —

Hostin: And you’re saying you need to hear–

Behar: I did ask you a question.

Griffin: But I had a point I wanted to make.

Hostin: She did. And you said that you needed to hear more from him. And I don’t need to hear more from Pence for several reasons. Because when I lived in Indiana –

Griffin: Well, you just accused me of something, so why don’t you let me actually answer? You’re not going to vote for a Republican ever.

Hostin: Nope. Nope. Nope. I’m going to finish what I’m going to say. The thing about Pence here is that when I lived in Indiana and I went to Notre Dame, he had a terrible approval rating because of the way he treated the AIDS crisis. Awful. A lot of people died because of him. A lot of people died because of how he handled the COVID crisis.

Griffin: I mean, you just defended Cornel West yesterday, who would destroy our country so…

Hostin: I’m still speaking. I’m still speaking. He was also a parrot for Trump. He spearheaded –-

Behar: Don’t make this personal. Let’s hear–

At one point, Griffin told Hostin that she was dishonoring the legacy of Barbara Walters with the way she was acting.

“This is not what the show is about. This is Barbara Walters’ legacy. Let a woman speak,” Griffin said, which prompted some scattered applause from the audience.

Shortly thereafter as the crosstalk continued, Goldberg swooped in to shield Hostin by cutting to commercial. When they returned, things got back to “normal.”

Watch:

While Sunny Hostin is undoubtedly a rude (not to mention incredibly racist) you-know-what who thinks she’s never wrong and loves to hear herself talk, I feel not one ounce of sympathy for what Griffin has to deal with from her, Behar, and the others when the subject comes to her years working with Pence and Trump.

Griffin wanted to bask in the glow of all the attention the media typically gives former Trump officials who allegedly “saw the light,” and purposely sought out the opportunity to be in the national spotlight and “respected” as a commentator while a “View” co-host full well knowing how these people operate.

When you jump into woke viper pits in this manner, you shouldn’t act offended when you get burned.

To reiterate a point I’ve made before, people could do this country a world of good by simply doing one thing: stop watching “The View.” Those ladies are poisonous to our nation’s discourse, adding nothing to it but more toxicity and stupidity — oftentimes of the dangerous variety — that it doesn’t need.

“The View” is absolutely not the place any self-respecting person will go if they’re looking for informed and enlightened commentary on what’s going on in America. As far as I’m concerned, the sooner this show self-destructs the better, and if it takes Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin figuratively clawing each other’s eyes out on a daily basis to get the process rolling, so be it.

Enough already.
