In my conversations with people on social media, I’ve seen it written occasionally that one shouldn’t read too much into White House Christmas displays, to just enjoy them for their beauty regardless of whoever the Oval Office Occupant is.

While I do take time to admire the decorations and appreciate the work put into them, I disagree that there is nothing to be read into what’s put out there for the viewing public to see. There is symbolism and meaning in everything a First Family does while in the White House, right down to the theme the First Lady picks, the ornaments on the trees, and the stockings hung on the fireplace mantel.

The theme Jill Biden chose for this year’s Christmas decorations is “We the People.” Here’s what it says about “We the People” on the White House website:

These words are the foundation of our extraordinary country and the Soul of our Nation. At the holidays, Americans come together each year in fellowship and faith, reminding us that we are stronger in community than we are apart. Each room and design element throughout the White House holiday décor represents what brings us together during the holidays and throughout the year.

On Monday, Mrs. Biden officially unveiled the decorations. But though they were festive and colorful, something was inexcusably missing:

As our country gathers for the holidays, traditions may vary, but our shared American values — a belief in possibility, optimism, and unity — endure each season.

If you look closer at the photo of the stockings in particular, you can see that a stocking for Navy Joan Roberts, who is the four-year-old lovechild of Hunter Biden and Arkansas native Lunden Roberts, is nowhere to be found:

As noted by the New York Post, even Joe Biden’s dog and cat got stockings. But not Navy Roberts?

First lady Jill Biden unveiled photos of the first family’s Christmas decorations on Monday, complete with 77 Christmas trees bearing more than 83,000 lights and stockings hanging over the mantle in the State Dining Room for the Biden grandchildren — with one notable exception.

Hunter and ex-wife Kathleen Buhle’s three daughters Naomi, Finnegan and Maisy were represented — along with Naomi’s new husband Peter Neal as well as Natalie and Hunter, the two children of the late Beau Biden and his widow Hallie.

Still another stocking bore the name “Baby,” an apparent reference to Hunter’s two-year-old son Beau with second wife Melissa Cohen, while the last two were set aside for first dog Commander and first cat Willow.

There was no stocking for Navy Roberts in the 2021 display, either. So obviously these were deliberate moves.

I don’t know the personal details of the relationship between the child’s mother, the child, and the Biden family other than what was said in 2021 and in 2022 by Lunden Roberts’ lawyer about how the Biden family – including Joe, Jill, and Hunter – allegedly have had no interaction with the child, but the omission of Navy from the display is awfully tacky all the same, in my opinion.

For a family that says they pride themselves on inclusiveness and all that, this is not a very inclusive thing to do.

So to recap, Hunter Biden, who has lucrative business interests in foreign countries including China, has said recently that he can’t afford what he’s currently paying for child support. And the First Family, which touted how Americans should “come together” in the spirit of the holidays, can’t even be bothered to include the name of his out-of-wedlock child in their Christmas display.

Something is deeply wrong with this picture – both literally and figuratively speaking.
