Rep. Lauren Boebert was making waves on the Second Amendment front well before she was elected to serve Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, and judging by her recent words and actions, she has no intentions of slowing down.
The newly-sworn in Congresswoman from Rifle, CO, who first made national headlines in September 2019 when she ripped into failed Democratic Senate and presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke over his plan to take certain types of guns away from people if elected president, tweeted at the beginning of the year that she had earned the support of over 80 of her colleagues who wrote a letter to House Speaker Pelosi and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy defending her right to carry on Capitol Hill:
21 Democrats wrote a letter to Nancy Pelosi asking her to stop me from being able to carry on Capitol Hill.
I choose to defend my family and my life with all of the force the Constitution provides.
I’m honored that 82 of my colleagues have decided to stand with me. pic.twitter.com/OBkVuAFvv7

Members of Congress already have this right (though it comes with some restrictions), but as the letter Boebert referenced in a second tweet noted, there were concerns Pelosi would try to change that with the new Congress.
Her tweet triggered Ryan Scott, the Chief Technology Officer of the Crime Door true crime app, who proceeded to make a complete idiot of himself by pretending the reason members wanted to maintain the right to carry on the Hill was as a substitute for “good arguments” or something:
If you had the benefit of good arguments you wouldn't need guns. What a bunch of cowards.

Boebert was not having any of it:
Were the Founding Fathers, who made guns the second point in their argument for the foundation of this country, also a “bunch of cowards”? https://t.co/ya7OxyRcsO

Not only that but who really thinks members of Congress want to carry a firearm in Washington, D.C. in order to settle political arguments with their colleagues in the House and Senate? Seriously?
In addition to Scott, she also had to contend with 2nd term Colorado Democratic Congressman Jason Crow, who chimed in with this nonsense:
.@laurenboebert is disrespecting the Capitol Police. Her desire to carry a gun at the Capitol is a political stunt. The USCP are professionals & I have rarely felt safer.
I should know. I’ve carried a gun for work. If Boebert wants to talk safety, I have legislation to discuss. https://t.co/BZK3IrX9QN

Boebert pushed back on him as well, noting his words about respecting the Capitol Hill police rang hollow considering the left’s pro-“defund the police” stance:
Cute mansplaining, Congressman.
You neglected to mention how disrespected Capitol Police are when your party shouts “defund the police” while demanding the same officers provide security.
Such a shame. https://t.co/Yjsn3Z2oYv

The next day, Boebert announced that she and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) had formed a Second Amendment Caucus in order to fight back against Democratic efforts to impede on the gun rights of law-abiding Americans:
The Second Amendment is more important now than ever before, but the far Left wants to take it away. @RepThomasMassie and I are fighting back.
We just launched the Second Amendment Caucus, which we will be Co-Chairing, to fight for your Constitutional rights. #2A pic.twitter.com/7KaYWS5wZ4

Anyone who values their right to defend themselves with a gun should definitely pay attention to this woman. She owns a gun-themed restaurant, stood up and spoke out against Beto’s gun-grabbing plan to his face, and made campaign promises to go to D.C. to protect that Constitutional right.
From the looks of things so far, she is staying true to her word. What a refreshing change!
