Thanks to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s decision to engage in partisan stunts at the 11th hour over the weekend on an economic stimulus bill that everyone thought was a done deal, here we are, with the American people and business owners not sure when – or if – relief is coming their way.
Why exactly are Democrats holding the Wuhan coronavirus relief bill hostage? In a nutshell, they’re digging in their heels over a progressive wish list that has nothing to do with stimulating the economy and getting people and businesses back on their feet.
Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) has been one of the more vocal Republican members of Congress who has not pulled any punches when it comes to laying out the case to the American people as to just how despicable and unnecessary Pelosi’s actions were, as my RedState colleague Brad Slager reported Monday.
In addition to a series of tweets outlining Pelosi’s duplicity yesterday, Crenshaw also made a video at a Texas restaurant that would have benefited from the bill had it been voted on and passed on Sunday. In the video, Crenshaw explains how the bill would have helped small businesses and large businesses alike.
He explained how the bill made it possible for small businesses to take out an SBA loan that would be forgiven. The money would be used to pay their workers and the business rent. He also talked how there were “parameters” put in the bill that would not allow the big businesses to use the money for things like increasing executive pay, stock buy backs, etc.
He also noted how Democrats didn’t like the fact that there was money in the bill for big businesses because Democrats “don’t understand basic economics.”
Crenshaw also stated that Democrats also don’t seem to understand that when “your fellow American loses a job, it doesn’t matter whether they are from a small business or a large business.”
He pointed out that one thing Democrats were asking for in their version of the bill was for collective bargaining rights for federal workers who, unlike most people who don’t work for the government, are still getting paid.
Watch:
I’m at a Texas BBQ joint that may not make it. Democrats tanked the rescue package that would help them, and millions like them.

This is the most angry and upset I think I’ve ever seen him since he was elected to Congress. And he’s not the only one. Republicans in the House and Senate are really upset right now – and understandably so, that Democrats like Pelosi are taking advantage of this pandemic in order to insert unrelated progressive fantasy items into an economic stimulus package that should have been passed this past weekend.
You know it’s gotta be bad when even the left wing media are condemning Democrats over this.
