Jacob Frey’s Little Sidekick Police Chief Dealt Career Blow After Deleting Evidence in Sex Probe

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara resigned Tuesday after Mayor Jacob Frey accused him of interfering in an internal sexual misconduct investigation by deleting a key contact from his city-issued phone.

It's quite the falling out for the duo. You remember Chief O'Hara, don't you? The embarrassment to the badge that stood beside Frey at press conference after press conference as the mayor railed against actual law enforcement in ICE. The guy who said ICE had been “making people scared and terrified" and accused them of "terrorizing" residents.

Frey put him beside him at every media appearance because he knew he could make O'Hara bark out his anti-ICE talking points like a seal. Like a subservient streetwalker. Like an emasculated Barney Rubble. Stimpy to his Ren. Ace to his Gary.

I could go on.

Frey claims investigators determined O’Hara “knowingly and intentionally” removed the contact card in his phone in an attempt to hide his connection to the individual during a probe into allegations that the chief had partaken in improper intimate relationships with city employees.

O'Hara, in a complaint received last year, was accused of dabbling in said relationships with multiple city employees under his command. Although the original misconduct allegations were ultimately deemed unsubstantiated, Frey called the police chief's intentional interference a serious breach of trust.

"Today I received a report of findings from an additional investigation that showed Chief O'Hara interfered with the investigation process," Frey said. "Specifically, investigators found that he intentionally deleted a contact card for an individual from his city-issued cell phone during the original investigation in an attempt to shield that evidence of his connection to the person from investigators."

"And even though he was instructed not to discuss the investigation itself with anyone, he told another city employee that his city cell phone had been taken from him for the investigation."

O'Hara was informed that he would be disciplined in some manner "up to and including discharge." And while there's a chance that the prospect of being disciplined by Frey was initially viewed in a positive light, he opted to resign instead.

It's difficult to describe it as resigning in disgrace when O'Hara served with disgrace.

Unfortunately for the law-abiding folks in Minneapolis, it seems unlikely that O'Hara's departure will usher in some sort of Renaissance in the beleaguered city. Assistant Chief Katie Blackwell has been named acting chief as the city moves forward.

And y'all probably remember her, as well.

As head of training during the Derek Chauvin case, Blackwell gave controversial testimony that many officers say was false (14 accused her of perjury), helping fuel the narrative that led to Chauvin’s conviction.

Mayor Frey and the entire leadership are absolute failures.

Blackwell filed a defamation lawsuit against Alpha News and others for reporting on the alleged perjury, but the suit was dismissed, and she was ordered to pay $75,000 toward the defendants’ legal fees.

Blackwell rose through the ranks during the department’s post-2020 “reform” era under intense pressure from the Biden DOJ, progressive politicians, and activists to diversify leadership and prioritize "equity" over merit.

She is a symbol of "woke" leadership who was promoted to be O’Hara’s assistant chief of operations. Now, she's the Acting Minneapolis Police Chief.

Even as O'Hara's ouster stands as good news in its own right, Minneapolis is doubling down on the same failed leadership that contributed to skyrocketing crime, low morale, and a mass exodus of officers. What they really need is a reformer who will back the blue and restore law and order.
